8,6:On the nose, the first impression we get is roasted and vegetal, a bit spicy and fruity agricole with tea, clove, pear, mirabelle plum, peach and waxy molasses touch, caramelized. Balanced, round. Aeration helps us digging out new notes as other baking spices, burnt sugar, the tea is black, there is chocolate, the rum is woody and juicy, delicious, as we would have a fruit compote. 8,8:On the palate, we receive a nice portion of tasty red fruits as currants, peaches and fresh vegetal tea notes with wood, going towards dryness. The molasses is sweet, syrupy and waxy, roasted, caramelized as we notice creme brulee. The clove is strong, as other baking spices stay more stealthy. This agricole is round and complex, we taste new notes after aeration, more sweet and tasty, the tea is black, fruits are dried, we think of a fruit compote, later, when they melt, even of a fruit cake, as they might be candied also. When well rested, some medicinal notes could be tasted and perhaps leather. 8,7:The finish is long, woody, dry with dried fruits, waxy molasses, some spices, nutty and black tea... These days I am in fond of agricole and TDL very much🤩😋... 🙂

Um es vorweg zu nehmen: Bis vor kurzem hatte ich keine Ahnung, wie gut Rum aus Mauritius sein kann. Danke Gunnar ;) Aber zurück zu ihm, die Nase ist warm, mit roten Früchten und etwas Holz. Tee (roter Punschtee, der sich dem Rooibostee annähert), am Gaumen Melasse, wieder Tee, etwas Gewürze (Backen?) und eine schöne subtile Süße. Ich habe ihn mit ein paar Tropfen Wasser reduziert, was alles noch mehr ausbalanciert hat. Der Abgang ist ebenfalls fruchtig mit diesen teehaften Noten. Wirklich schön und das hat Mauritius definitiv auf mein Radar gebracht. Ein Profil, das ein wenig hervorsticht, aber auf eine positive Art und Weise.

Tasted together with New Grove Savoir Faire LMDW 2009/ RX2744 and New Grove Savoir Faire LMDW 2010 / RX13444. Nose: The Savour Faire 2012 immediately offers a great fruit compote, peach, passion fruit and mirabelle plum. I found the fruit in the Savoir Faire 2009 to be somewhat brighter and more restrained. For me, the Savoir Faire 2010 lies between the other two. Palate: In addition to currant, peach and passion fruit, I find a slight mint and some Tictac Wintergreen in the 2012. This taste of Tictac Wintergreen then gradually comes to the fore and ends in a long finish together with some redcurrant. The alcohol is very well integrated, which makes this rum quite drinkable in combination with the fruitiness. A little water makes it even more drinkable, but does not open it up any further. A really nice fruity, drinkable rum with a great range of flavors. If it were a little more complex, the rating would be even higher. The Savoir Faire 2009 is similarly fruity, but the aromas go slightly in a different direction. I don't find any redcurrant or TicTac Wintergreen here, but there is some strawberry and very light caramel. Overall, the 2009 seems a little more classic or more in the Spanish style in direct comparison, without drifting too much in this direction. The fruitiness is simply a little more settled and restrained. With a little water, it opens up a little more and the caramel note becomes clearer. The Savoir Faire 2010 goes a little more in the direction of the 2012 in terms of fruitiness and, for me, lies between 2012 and 2009. The TicTac Wintergreen moment can be detected very slightly in the background, with peach and bright fruit in the foreground. For me, the 2010 is the most similar to a TDL of the three, although it lacks the mint or herbaceousness. All three rums are quite astringent on the finish. Despite the slight differences, all three rums are at the same high level for me. 87 points each.

Only one review so far. We were very excited about this apparently rare bottling and were not disappointed. Well, it's really very restrained on the nose, but on the palate! 😋 An aromatic journey around the globe, great. Atypical, but very good New Grove. Update 2024-04-18: A rum that's really completely out of the ordinary. And I mean that in a very positive way. You really meander around aimlessly and then can't classify it. Not to mention its association with New Grove. A rum like a secret.

Mit einer melassigen Grundsüße versehen befinden sich fruchtige Aromen, feine Eiche und winterliche Gewürze in einem dicht verwobenen Einklang. Was im Geruch angekündigt wurde, wird am Gaumen stringent weitergeführt und das ist ungemein lecker.

Gray's tasting rx9122 vs. Rx14941 vs. Rx7608 My favorite of the three - probably because it comes closest to the profile I expected and has a great caramel sweetness. However, all three fall short of my first Grays love - the CDI Perola 11y.

Solid rum, quite pleasant. Nose is simple and sweet - caramel, butterscotch, wood, vanilla, and some baking spice. On the palate you get caramel and wood, with a stone fruity rooibos tea touch, and some spice. Not super firy, but the alchohol could be more well integrated.

Once again a rum from Gunnar's endless Mauritius splits. Thanks for that. I've already been to Mauritius, but didn't know that there are so many varieties/bottlings on the island. For me it's actually a nice rum, if it wasn't so alcoholic despite its low ABV, it would probably have scored a few more points.
