Old St. Croix: on 13 June 2025 the house retired the name A.H. Riise and returned to Old St. Croix. The change covers more than 30 markets and applies to the company and the brand of the same name. Nothing else moved: same blends, same bottlings, same recipes. Sister brands Santos Dumont and Tranquebar keep their own names.

On RumX both names sit on this page, and each bottle keeps the name printed on its own label. That matters for a collection: a bottle in your cabinet that reads A.H. Riise stays an A.H. Riise. The bottler page Old St. Croix additionally holds the Santos Dumont bottlings, which this brand page does not.

The rum comes from St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands, the former Danish colony of the Danish West Indies, and the house itself sits in Dragør near Copenhagen today, where the blends are assembled and bottled. That is why the bottles on RumX list the Virgin Islands as their origin, apart from a few that list Denmark.

Part of the range is a spirit drink on a rum base: for several bottlings, among them the Non Plus Ultra Black Edition and the Non Plus Ultra Very Rare, RumX shows the EU classification as a spirit drink on a rum base rather than rum. For bottlings like these the reason is the dosage, meaning added sugar above the limit EU regulation 2019/787 sets for rum, and the RumX community describes both as sweet, with vanilla and caramel. That is a statement about labelling, not about quality: the house markets these bottles deliberately as a fine spirit made from aged rum.
