Bristol Classic Rum is one of the older names in independent bottling, working from the UK with a stash of casks that leans heavily toward Trinidad’s closed Caroni distillery, Guyana’s Demerara stills (Port Morant, Enmore), Barbados Rockley Still, and Jamaican Long Pond and Hampden. Much of what they release is single cask or small-batch rum from distilleries that no longer exist or no longer make rum the same way — the kind of liquid people describe as drinking history.

The community view is split by strength. Bristol’s cask strength releases, particularly the 1997 Caroni, draw ratings around 8.6–9.2/10. The reduced 40% bottlings divide opinion sharply, with several drinkers wishing for more punch. The casks are good; the dilution is the recurring argument.
