Bacardi traces back to 1862 in Santiago de Cuba, where the family pioneered a lighter, filtered style of rum. After leaving Cuba, the company relocated much of its production to Puerto Rico and grew into one of the most widely sold spirits on earth. That history shaped the house style you taste today: clean, mellow, cocktail-ready rum rather than heavy pot-still intensity.

Production runs on multi-column stills, with molasses fermentation and charcoal filtration smoothing the spirit before aging in ex-bourbon oak. The result is a consistent, approachable profile across a huge range. The white Carta Blanca sits at the base, followed by Carta Oro and the darker Carta Negra, the four-year Cuatro, and then the more serious Reserva Ocho (8 years) and Gran Reserva Diez (10 years). Spiced entries like Oakheart, Spiced and Carta Fuego lean on vanilla, caramel and warm spice.
