Production is column-still and molasses-based, drawing on stock from the Dominican Republic and Guyana. The spirit spends roughly five to eight years in former bourbon and Tennessee whiskey barrels before blending, and none of the core range carries added sugar, which is why members keep recommending it to drinkers who want a clean, honest profile.

The range starts with the everyday 5 Years and the 10 Year Reserve, moves through a trio of cask finishes in Port, Oloroso Sherry and Madeira casks at 46%, and reaches its heavier end with the cask-strength High Congener Series and the 73% Coeur de Savalle. Older and rarer bottlings like the 25 Years and Extra Old show a softer, sweeter side from a past era.

The taste is anchored on caramel, vanilla, toasted oak, coconut and dried fruit, with a dry, spicy, sometimes peppery finish. The finishes add raisin, honey and wine notes; the high-proof editions bring milk chocolate, banana and a creamier body. Some drinkers find the standard bottles a little thin at 40 to 43%, while the cask-strength releases earn praise for how well the alcohol is folded in.
