Foursquare sits on the site of a former sugar plantation in the parish of St Philip, Barbados, and has stayed in the Seale family for generations. Under Richard Seale it became a leading voice for transparency in rum, championing labelling that states age, strength and whether anything has been added. That philosophy shapes everything the brand bottles.

Production centres on a blend of pot still and column still distillate, aged entirely in the Caribbean rather than Europe. The Exceptional Cask Selection is the flagship, each release named with a Roman numeral and often a word like Nobiliary, Redoutable, Sovereignty, Détente or Equidem. Beyond ECS you will find the everyday Doorly’s range, plus one-off collaborations and the older 2004 to 2010 vintages that collectors chase. Cask finishes span bourbon, sherry, port, Madeira, zinfandel and muscat.

The core taste is easy to recognise: coconut, vanilla and caramel up front, then dry oak, baking spice, dark chocolate, tobacco and dried fruit, closing on a spicy, tannic finish.
