Hampden Estate sits in Jamaica’s Trelawny parish, where the distillery has operated since 1753. Its reputation rests on a refusal to tone things down: long fermentations with indigenous yeasts and dunder feed copper pot stills to produce some of the highest-ester rum made anywhere, from softer OWH marks up to the HLCF and DOK profiles prized by ester chasers.

The core range covers a lot of ground. The 46% Pure Single Jamaican Rum is the everyday bottle many members opened first, described as fruity, accessible and easy to mix. The Overproof pushes the same DNA harder and hides its strength well, often called near-single-cask quality for the money. Rum Fire is the unaged white, a banana-and-nail-polish funk bomb built for Ti-punch and tiki drinks.
