Ramero is the rum brand of Heimat Distillers, a small producer in southern Germany better known locally for gin. The concept is unusual: source Guyana rum from the Diamond distillery (DDL), including heavy wooden-still marks, then mature or finish it in Germany using whisky barrels and German wine casks. Alongside the imported stock sits Terra Blanc, promoted as the first rum made from sugar cane grown in Germany.

Production leans on cask choice rather than tropical aging. Releases like the Single Cask Riesling, the Sonderabfüllung Spätburgunder and the PX-Sherry Cask take Guyana distillate and lean into local wine and sherry barrels; the Cask Selection famously uses seven different woods. Several rums are bottled at 46%, and reviewers note the strength sits better there than on the 40% Double Blend.

Taste varies by line. The PX-Sherry Cask brings raisin, caramel and chocolate over the recognizable Guyana base. The Bourbon PM single cask shows green apple, roasted wood, licorice and an oily palate that fans of Port Mourant will recognize. The Riesling finish turns spicy, dry and slightly bitter, splitting opinion. Terra Blanc is grassy and floral with brioche, yeast and a salty edge. The Blanco releases draw the weakest scores for thin, rubbery, sugared profiles.

People drink the sherry and PM casks neat and slowly. The lighter blends and both Blancos land better in cocktails, with the Cask Selection and Terra Blanc named repeatedly as strong daiquiri material where the spiced chocolate and floral notes come forward.
