The Anthologists is the independent bottling label run by La Maison du Whisky, the long-standing Paris spirits house, and the 2027 series collects casks from distilleries that rum drinkers already chase by name. Rather than one signature style, it works as an anthology: each bottling is a single distillery captured at a particular age and strength.

The sourcing tells the story. From Trinidad come the Flag Series releases, both a 25 and a 26 year old carrying the classic TDL and Caroni DNA. From Jamaica there are high-proof Wedderburn, STCE and Hampden rums, including an unaged “Fresh” blend built for cocktails and the Great House 10 YO Distillery Edition. Martinique shows up as Neisson under the Léritaj small-batch label, Réunion as Savanna, and Haiti as the Casimir and Vaval clairins, several of them finished in ex-Caroni casks.

The flavours track the origins closely. The Trinidad bottlings lean into tar, rubber, menthol and overripe tropical fruit, with minimal sweetness and real cask-strength punch; tasters flagged occasional acidity or alcohol bite as the main quibble. The Jamaican releases bring ester funk, overripe pineapple and savoury depth. The agricole and clairin pours run greener and more vegetal, with the oak-heavy Casimir drawing dried-fruit, leather and vinegary notes.

How people drink them splits by bottle. The old Trinidad and Jamaican cask-strength rums reward slow, neat sipping with a few drops of water, ideal for a tasting flight among friends. The “Fresh” Hampden earns its keep in a daiquiri, where its pineapple and cane-vinegar character cuts through.
