Loved by Felix Reiber, Timo Groeger, Oliver & over 490 more

Bleeding Heart Rum Company is the producer behind Don Papa, the sugarcane rum made on the island of Negros in the Philippines. Launched in 2012, the brand built its reputation on ornate pirate-styled bottles and a soft, sweet profile heavy on vanilla, caramel and candied orange. It became one of the best-selling rums in Europe, and one of the most divisive.

Across more than 5,400 community reviews, the range sits at a median of 7.0/10, but that number hides a wide split. The core sweetened bottlings — Baroko, the standard Rum, Masskara — draw sharp criticism for added sugar and artificial notes, while the newer unsweetened cask releases like Rare Cask and the Port Cask editions score far higher with the same drinkers.

The Bleeding Heart Rum Company lineup compared

Which bottling is the better one is decided neither by price nor by the age on the label. Here they stand side by side, sorted by the community's median rating. The number of ratings sits next to it: a high score from few voices says less than a middling one from many.
