MHOBA is a single-estate distillery in Mpumalanga, South Africa, run by Robert Greaves, who built much of his own equipment — including copper pot stills — from scratch. The rum is made from fresh-pressed sugarcane juice grown on the estate, fermented long and distilled in small batches, which gives it a profile closer to a cross between high-ester Jamaican and agricole than anything else in the category.
