Jo has been a wine and spirits merchant (a French “caviste”) for more than 16 years. On his YouTube channel “Jo Wine & Spirits”, he shares his passion for wine, spirits and food, and rum features prominently: straight-talking tastings, bottle against bottle, and finds that don’t cost a fortune.

A merchant’s eye

Jo knows the shelves, the labels and the prices. He talks about what goes into the bottle: agricole or molasses rum, additives, age statements. He puts classics side by side, such as Diplomático against Zacapa or Clément against Dillon, and looks for gems under 40 or 50 euros without additives.
