Romdeluxe Diamond Collectors Series No. 2 MDS 1996
People who chase deep, dark Demerara from the Diamond stills will know this register: dried fruit, plum, molasses and dark chocolate, with licorice and coffee on the palate. A few tasters wish it had been bottled stronger — the reduced strength shows — but the nose is rich and the long finish keeps it interesting. Heavy on molasses, so know that going in.
- Deep dark nose
- Chocolate and coffee
- Long finish

How does Romdeluxe Diamond Collectors Series No. 2 MDS 1996 taste?
Aggregated from 26 community reviews.
Dark, chocolatey Diamond, a touch diluted A well-balanced 25-year Diamond with chocolate, coffee and dried fruit. Plenty of flavor, but several feel the dilution holds it back from something bigger.

Great, intense, dark nose. Chocolatey and roasted. On the palate with plenty of power - but in a positive sense. Very well integrated alcohol. Super long finish.

Too bad that the Diamond was diluted. Potential is there! For me, a little too much molasses in the taste. Taste-wise, I therefore like the Corman a little better than the Rome de luxe 2 batch.
Review by Kevin Sorensen 🇩🇰
A very well balanced and medium complex rum with nice fruits and wood/wood spices. Chocolate, coffee and tobacco complement the molasses flavour wonderfully.
Review by Jakob
It is quite similar to the Corman Collins C'Rhum - heavy sweetness dominates, but unfortunately the reduced alcohol strength is also too noticeable in this bottling. It remains speculative whether the original distillate would have benefited from more power - but knowing the potential of the vintage, coupled with the legendary Coffey still as the source, it is reasonable to suspect that even more would have been possible. As a result, there is once again a lot of heavy caramel sweetness with dark chocolate, subtle café au lait and dark spicy notes, which provide some aromatic tension on the palate - but overall there is not enough spectacle for an even higher rating.

Part of a greater tasting with good company in 2021. Very deep in the nose; dried fruits and stonefruit. The notes I got from this, was licorice, dark chocolate and dried fruits. Lots of flavor despite rather low ABV
Review by Snorre Brouer
Walnuts and raisins is what first comes into mind. The nose is quite alcoholic, but luckily this doesn't count for the mouth. Herbs and slightly medicinal, with some fruit in the bacground. All in all a decent rum, and for it's RRP it is relatively cheap considering it's age and origin - But all in all it doesn't stand out as exceptional.
