The mint is the twist here — menthol and eucalyptus run right through this Mauritian from nose to finish, wrapped around juicy mango, red fruit and grapefruit peel. The oak leans heavy and there's a waxy, faintly oily-diesel edge that keeps it interesting. At 50% it's balanced rather than hot, and a splash of water pulls out even more herbal notes. Several tasters compare the profile to Trinidad's TDL.

12.06.2020 Relaxing over a nice lunch with friends and family and a few rums. Notes Medium dark colour. Nose Fresh, wood, vegetal, tropical fruits, herbs, light mint, faint caramel. Palate Round, fresh, fruity, mango, spice, herbs, balanced, light wood, faibt roasted. Finish Medium long, wood, light fruits, light mint. Extra note Add a bit of water and a lot if herbal notes are released.

Tasted at Sanctus Spiritus ‘24, so my review remains rather concise. On the nose enticing aromas of passionfruit, coconut husks and barrel influence, rounded off by bitter agrume. It’s very mentholated and in the tail even a little oily and dirty. The palate is very accessible, yet even more exciting. A continuation of aromas: fruity and cool; with more grapefruit peel, more wood presence, and a hint of diesel. Finishes mid-long, fruity and minty fresh. To me another clear example of a great Mauritian, and that New Grove is slept upon. If only it was bottled at a little higher strength, it would pack an even more powerful punch.

Nothing to say; it's really a profile I love from New Grove. The wood is a bit heavy but the fruits are superb, and the mint too. Nose: Woody, camphor at first, then a sour candy brings some fruit, cherry. It only lasts a while, the noble wood comes back to dominate. Palate: Woody, sour, red fruits, mango. Also a waxy side. The mint is always there in the background until the fairly fruity finish.

25/01/2025: tasted @ Liquid Leuven in "De Hoorn". Pleasantly surprised by this one! Good nose and the palate reminded me of a TDL. Very good price to quality ratio. Makes me curious about other rums from New Grove or Mauritius.

Blind, I classified them as tdl 2009, with a slight newgro fruitiness. The usual fruitiness is slightly subdued. Instead, a lot of juicy mango, eucalyptus. It's oily, with a nice pep and dangerously good. Superb!
