The Nectar Grays New Grove Savoir Faire - Small Batch 2005
What sneaks up on you here is the menthol — a cool, almost eucalyptus streak running through juicy mango, passion fruit and grapefruit peel, with noble oak underneath. Several tasters clocked it blind as a Trinidad rum, then warmed to its Mauritian fruit. Oily texture, a faint diesel edge, fresh and minty into the finish. A few wished it landed at higher strength.
- Juicy mango fruit
- Cool menthol streak
- Oily texture

How does The Nectar Grays New Grove Savoir Faire - Small Batch 2005 taste?
Aggregated from 14 community reviews.
Minty, fruity 12-year Mauritian with oak Most people came away pleasantly surprised — mango, mint and woody fruit done well. One taster found plenty of alcohol but little on the palate, so give it air.

25/01/2025: tasted @ Liquid Leuven in "De Hoorn". Pleasantly surprised by this one! Good nose and the palate reminded me of a TDL. Very good price to quality ratio. Makes me curious about other rums from New Grove or Mauritius.

12.06.2020 Relaxing over a nice lunch with friends and family and a few rums. Notes Medium dark colour. Nose Fresh, wood, vegetal, tropical fruits, herbs, light mint, faint caramel. Palate Round, fresh, fruity, mango, spice, herbs, balanced, light wood, faibt roasted. Finish Medium long, wood, light fruits, light mint. Extra note Add a bit of water and a lot if herbal notes are released.

Very pleasant with a nice length in the mouth. Just give it time to open up and you have a nice fruit salad!

Tasted at Sanctus Spiritus ‘24, so my review remains rather concise. On the nose enticing aromas of passionfruit, coconut husks and barrel influence, rounded off by bitter agrume. It’s very mentholated and in the tail even a little oily and dirty. The palate is very accessible, yet even more exciting. A continuation of aromas: fruity and cool; with more grapefruit peel, more wood presence, and a hint of diesel. Finishes mid-long, fruity and minty fresh. To me another clear example of a great Mauritian, and that New Grove is slept upon. If only it was bottled at a little higher strength, it would pack an even more powerful punch.
