Review by Werni
My first and only Dominican at cask strength. The nose is wonderful, a successful mixture of fruits, mainly orange and date, plus baking spices, pleasant wood aromas with the sweetness of caramel popcorn. The palate is fierce, the alcohol hits hard, 62.4% can rarely be hidden well ;-) with sweet wood, overly strong roasted aromas, leather, espresso. Burnt, bacony aromas remain. Conclusion: Great nose, on the palate the burnt barrel almost overwhelms everything else. I almost always drink it with a good shot of water, which makes it more pleasant.

The nose is rather complex with dates, coffee and maple syrup (did I still have some Eleven Canada left in my glass!?). A touch of mildly spicy butterscotch completes this exotic and inviting nose. On the palate, it's surprisingly similar to Cointreau (orange liqueur). But not only that, of course: there's spice, vanilla and, once again, maple syrup in the evening's main theme. The finish is sweet and moderately long on orange zest. This distillery was completely unknown to me, and I find this distillate very atypical with its concentrated orange profile.
