It's a 25-year Clarendon pot still that needs air — several tasters say the sherry veil lifts after time, revealing dried fruit, black tea, cherry, tobacco and old oak. Rich, warm, spicy and dry. A couple find it a touch over-oaked from the long European aging, but most call it a real evening sipper.

You have to let it breathe for a long time, the sherry veil disappears and a very nice nose emerges. Then mega in the mouth! Very full and warm. Dry wood and dried fruit. Long woody finish. Great Jamaican. No idea why it's still available. Edit: Already a collector's item.

If you like Jamaican funk without too much bling this is it. Unfortunately the bottle has already become pretty high priced, no wonder with this well balanced profile and the tender care used when creating it. A perfect fruity and funky nose sliding into a wonderful palate with fruits, black tea and tannins. The finish is long and very well balanced with fruit and spices. Only 750 bottles made and thus very hard to find.

To put it figuratively, the nose reminds me of a fermented dried fruit basket, plus allspice, old barrel, aniseed, wild herbs, caramel candy à la Werther's Echte. I like it extremely well! The palate is no less disappointing, caramel sweetness, mango, spices, barrel, slightly peppery. Long roasty-chocolaty finish! Absolutely top quality! Many thanks to Neuwied for this!

On the nose, spices, chocolate and wood dominate. Also some glue, tobacco, dried fruits and sherry. On the palate a nice oily texture and relatively cask-heavy. Alcohol is very well integrated.

Very pleasant and complex nose. The sherry cask delivers more nutty notes rather than overly intense red fruits. Very complex also on the palate. Here I get a very nice balance between red fruits, wood and tabacco with a hint of sweetness.

Very dry, sublime rum that shows its age. The sherry finish is subtle but noticeable. Brings in some red fruits, otherwise the rum would certainly have been far too dry for me. As it is, it remains a heavy companion that needs attention. Not for the faint-hearted and not a beginner's rum. I miss a solid finish, which I simply expect from such an old rum.

Very nice nose, but unfortunately a little too much wood on the palate for me. However, the notes of strong black tea, cassis, herbs and nutmeg as well as licorice are particularly nice. Very complex, delicious and balanced, but not quite my taste!

Thanks to Tobi for having this rum to try, wherever he dug it up. I'm torn between the two. Not normally a big fan of sherry finishes, but it works here. Overall, though, it's been a little too long in the cask for me. I think it's a little overdone, otherwise there would probably have been more in it.

Franconian Tasting Gang November 2025: Ohh... Tobi brought something unexpectedly fine. Yes, the finish is clearly noticeable and tastable, but not too dominant and rounds off the rum. Dark, heavy and sweet, with tobacco and light herbal notes in the finish. Want it!

Very tasty. Great nose with nuts, dried fruits, oak, vanilla. On the palate warm, thick and slowly developing from the fruitiness of dried fruits to warm wood. For me a feel-good rum.

26/10/2025: sample bought from Filip Sikula. This beauty needs time to open up in the glass. And once it does, it's a nice experience. The nose and palate are very good with noticeable sherry influence. I'm glad I still have an unopened bottle in my stash.

Color: Mahogany. Smell: Mon Cherie - chocolate, fruity (cherry, date). Heavy spices, gingerbread, sherry and wet wood. Taste: In the mouth toffee, chocolate and spices. Spicy and full-bodied when swallowing, lots of toffee and chocolate, with sherry and fine wood. Slightly fruity (date, dried plum). Really very tasty. Finish: Long. Spicy and woody, toffee, chocolate, dry.

Absolutely beautiful and noble drink! The nose I would say is rather weak and indistinct with prominent notes of wood and sherry. The taste is absolutely complex, lots of dried fruit, notes of cherries, black tea and of course oak. I don't even notice the alcohol. For me, this is really a noble gem!

This was and is one of the nicer supreme lords. It is spicy and low estery. But it really palates the long European aging extremely well there is old wood and a lot of complexity from the aging, sweet bourbon cask finish.
