Very soft and round character with intense vanilla notes on the nose as well as on the palate. Also works excellently as a dessert substitute or contrast after hearty meals. Could have a nuance less sweetness for my taste though. Would buy and recommend it anytime again.

What distinguishes Ida van der Ille is that real vanilla was used. A nice dessert spirit for beginners. Nicely integrated vanilla notes, light oak wood and sweetness with a honey touch. The alcohol is hardly noticeable. The sweetness dominates the taste, while in the finish the vanilla and the wood note come through.

Sweet and fruity, with light honey notes on the nose. Very mild and pleasant on the tongue and palate. Despite a large amount of vanilla, not too intense in flavor. Short finish, without any burn. A tasty rum liqueur.

I tried this rum at a rum tasting. As the name suggests, vanilla clearly dominates here. Neat I found it too sweet. However, we then had this rum as a long drink with grapefruit water. That was really a really awesome combo.

Although I usually don't like sweet rum, I have to say I really like the Ida right now in summer on warm days when you just want to relax. Not as sweet as expected. You smell the sweetness more than you taste it. The spirit is very pleasantly mild, tastes wonderfully vanilla-sweet. Great dessert. For advanced drinkers, a bit too little going on in the mouth but still enjoyable.

If you love vanilla, this is for you. Important: real vanilla pods and no vanillin or aroma. We tasted it at a fair. Neat it is vanilla sweet with some caramel. With 33.2% a very pleasant soft vanilla liqueur. Surely fits excellently in a cappuccino or cocktail.

Right from the first scent, I notice an intense, natural vanilla note that feels pleasantly soft and inviting. On the palate, the rum presents itself wonderfully mild and harmonious with a pleasant sweetness reminiscent of honey. This is accompanied by fine notes of oak wood, cinnamon, and a hint of tobacco. What I especially like is the authentic vanilla, which doesn't come across as artificial or overly sweet at all. The alcohol at 33.2% ABV is barely noticeable, making the rum very smooth and rounded. The finish leaves a pleasant sweetness with a subtle spiciness. Overall, a creamy, balanced rum with an intense vanilla character.

Among the sweet representatives I've tried so far, in the top third. Even though I usually don't like heavily sweetened rums much, this one even goes neat. Preferably with an ice cube. And my wife loves it. On the nose quite pleasantly round and on the palate of course full vanilla. You can just sip it away without much thinking.

Very sweet, very vanilla, very nice rum liqueur. Very clean honest taste. The rum seems to be Barbados-based, with some coconut fruit in the background. It's great for beginners but also a great product for everyone else, also for cocktails.

Spirit with 33.2% based on rum. Mixed with real vanilla pods and sugar. Very tasty liqueur with well-integrated alcohol. Conclusion: I always keep a bottle of this in stock.

As the name suggests, a nice, sweet vanilla bomb, in the best sense. Where many "real" rums have a hinted vanilla note from barrel aging that you always somehow wish was stronger especially in taste, and many spiced rums try to fulfill this with artificial vanilla notes, a welcome addition with very natural vanilla aroma. Pleasantly round neat, sweet, vanilla, without completely covering the rum base, which however remains a bit more present in Bumbu Original, for example. Very natural vanilla cola. Drinks: - Neat: 5/5 - Rum Fashioned: 4/5 - Rum Cola: 4/5 - Rum Mule: 3.5/5

You have to be into it – so the rating comes from that. I totally understand those who don't like it, but with a product like this, a 'neutral rating' as I usually try is not possible. The nose doesn't have much going on yet, surprisingly little even. But the taste really kicks in, at least in one direction. Meaning one of the roundest sweets I know and even makes a lot of good liqueurs look old. Plus the absolutely natural vanilla that is completely different from all the vanilla cardboard everywhere. That's it, because from the base not much more remains than the basic notes 'rum'. When it gets warmer, more of that comes through, but nothing is really nameable. But it doesn't need to be, this is about the vanilla. And it can do it like no other. I'm impressed!

Sweet, lightly spicy and red-fruity on the nose, lots of honey and even more vanilla. On the palate, honey-like sweetness, lots of natural vanilla, light spiciness, dried figs, mild. Really good as a liqueur.

I tried the rum after watching the manufacturer's video about it. Personally, I wished for a stronger vanilla note. The rum is thick and sweet. The alcohol taste only comes at the end. I can imagine this rum well in a hearty cocktail like an Espresso Martini. I would drink it neat at most with dessert or when you really crave something sweet again.

Mild vanilla nose, very sweet in taste but it tastes quite natural, flavor-wise the vanilla is not too dominant, the rum lacks a bit of strength and body. Definitely a sweet pleasure for a sweet entry.

Ida Van der Ille is a nice rum that is very vanilla intense both on the nose and in taste and finish. It is nicely mild. You can drink it neat but it is also perfect for mixing, especially with its sweetness suitable for 'summery' drinks.

The best, non-sweetened rum. Similar to A.H. Riise rums but without added sugar. Real vanilla pods were soaked here. A good rum and a lady to excite about it, as it almost comes across like a liqueur. Very oily.

It's a rum liqueur, if you want to be precise. An absolute must for every sweet tooth who loves vanilla. It tastes very smooth and very good with vanilla. You can tell that a lot of love went into the vanilla during production (you could say). But rather not for rum experts, as it's quite sweet. But always a must to have at home. Especially popular with guests.
