Sip this one slowly and neat — at 67.1% it needs a good 15 minutes to open. Give it that time and you get thick, oily roasted wood, dark chocolate, walnuts and caramelized burnt sugar, with dried apricots and raisins reading like fruitcake. A cask-strength Belize from Travellers that stays surprisingly balanced for the proof, though a few tasters found the palate a touch quiet.

Note: Employment at Perola GmbH (spirits industry), partial professional involvement with evaluated bottlings. All reviews are my personal, unpaid opinion. Once again a very cool and unusual Belize rum! 67.1% is definitely noticeable, it needs >15 minutes to breathe! Afterwards, a really crazy note of lemon, bergamot, as well as floral tones of elderflower, sandalwood, eucalyptus and baking spices come through, the typical pineapple note is rather in the background here. Taste-wise very thick, oily and concentrated, the whole mouth is practically sticky with glue, dark chocolate, sandalwood and bergamot, as well as mocha and macaroons and caramelized meringue with some lemon zest, fat! Overall very balanced despite the high % number. And an extremely unusually long finish.

On the nose, first bourbon and vanilla, then dried fruit comes in and the alcohol is quite present - not surprising at over 67%.The palate shows very spicy and alcoholic on the evening. Unfortunately, not that much happens here and the alcohol is very forward. A slight floral and earthy note comes in. The aftertaste is short to medium length with emphasis on the roasted flavors.Had I hoped for more of but still a solid rum.

8,3:On the nose, the first impression we get is a bit dull with spicy, roasted wood notes as vanilla, coffee and dried fruits like apricots, a bit vegetal molasses. On aeration, the rum opens a bit, the molasses is floral and earthy with tobacco, the wood is nutty, there are burnt sugar and some cinnamon. 8,6:On the palate, the attack is very pleasant with thick roasted wood notes like walnuts, hazelnuts, caramel, burnt sugar, spices like cinnamon, pepper and vanilla.The fruits are dried with apricots, raisins, so we get, with combination of wood notes, tasty fruitcake...After resting, the molasses is dark with black tea, licorice, a bit flowery, our tasting buds are attacked with delicious peaches, dark chocolate, coffee, a bit smoky. 8,5:The finish is long, fruity and creamy, dry and earthy, the wood is charred. Wow, an absolutely fantastic rum, really tasty. A hint of chocolate and vanilla on the nose, on the palate then chocolate/dark chocolate and a certain spiciness. The alcohol perfectly integrated, you'd never guess it's 67.1%.

Insane. Belize was already my favorite origin, this rum confirms it. Really great combination of woody, spicy aromas with just the right amount of fruit. A really great rum, it now has an honorary place in my display case :)

26.02.2022 Enjoying some samples at home. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Light roasted wood, light nutts, faint caramel, light coconut, light earthy, light leather. Palate Light oily, light roasted wood, tobacco, light coconut, spice, light nutty, faint nougat, light caramel, light mango. Finish Medium to long, warm, light wood, light nougat, light coconut, light caramel.

Today again a CDI. Nose is fruity, pineapple, bergamot, wood but also distinct alcohol. On the palate: first relatively mild, very round and getting stronger. Nice spice, roasted, dark chocolate and vanilla. Finish long and spicy with nice wood, slightly peppery. Overall good alcohol integration, I like it.

Nose: fruity and spicy. Also, when I take a bit of distance from the glass, I perceive a tobacco note. The whole thing is accompanied by a pleasant sweetness (vanilla, chocolate). Sometimes I notice the fruits more clearly, other times it's more the spicy notes. Taste: mainly spicy and chocolaty but also fruity. You definitely notice the alcohol. Definitely let it rest a bit. The finish could be longer. The empty glass smells very pleasantly spicy and especially like tobacco. I like it but don't need a bottle of it.

A nice Belize with spicy, chocolatey notes. Decent body. After some time in the glass it also releases subtle notes of vanilla and banana. The alcohol blends well in this composition. Very good notes for these flavor profiles from Belize

Very nice Belize. The smell delivers what it promises. Beautiful tropical fruits and light spice. That is reflected in the taste. The finish is long and strong. The ABV also plays very well. 🇧🇿 ❤️

It's okay, but the one with 66.2% was better. Luckily I could visit Travellers on a big trip, unfortunately only the museum and the small warehouse (see profile photo) in Belize City. But there were already some interesting barrels around, tasting was unfortunately not possible.

Aroma: Vanilla, dried fruits, wood, pineapple and cedarwood. Taste: Vanilla, dried fruit, peppery, spicy, wood and roasted tones. Long aftertaste.
