Sipped neat, this drinks fruity and technical: ripe grape, melon and papaya up front, then a big wave of mint and menthol, spice and light cedar wood. Several tasters get a baked-apple, pastry side that's unusual for a Jamaican. At 59.4% the alcohol sits surprisingly well integrated. A rounded Clarendon that mostly skips the flambéed-banana marker some Jamaica lovers avoid.

A surprising nose of varnish and banana with a hint of menthol. The menthol is repeated on the palate with vanilla and spices. Like baked apples. Medium length, with spices and more menthol and a taste of mouthwash. Nice overall balance, quite opposite flavors but nevertheless coherent. I like it. Tasted again and I confirm, a very fine rum.

The nose is pleasantly gentle, sweet and fruity, the palate with light wood, fruit and vanilla… all very restrained, alcohol very well integrated, surprisingly a grassy herbal note comes in at the finish! A well-made Clarendon, but it rather inspires me to mix.

At first, surprisingly fruity and delicate on the nose with grape, honeydew melon, mirabelle plums, and papaya, then baking spices and mint with menthol come in, along with some cedarwood & rose. On the palate, first comes mint menthol herbal candies, lots of wood and almost burnt notes, slightly bitter and furry astringent. The finish is then clearly more balanced with papaya, mango, and lots of mint. A nice piece and a typical and rounded representative from Clarendon that despite its young age can already deliver really well!

25.09.2021 A friendly tasting with friends and colleagues. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Fresh, light wood, pineapple, fruity, light olive, spice, light vegetal. Palate Lightly oily, balanced, light wood, fruity, pineapple, faint floral, spice, faint chocolate, berries. Finish Medium long, medium dry, light wood, faint smoke, berries, light chocolate.

Jamaica without Hampden Tasting: Better Clarendon from CDI. Not particularly outstanding, but still a great sipper. Mint and tropical fruits complement each other really well. Slightly stronger on the palate with polish

The nose starts off on a high note, with banana and vanilla, and above all a pastry side that I rarely find with Jamaicans. Then the varnish lifts the whole. On the palate, it's nothing like the nose, with a slight smoky, peppery/pepperiness. Then it changes and returns to tropical fruit, vanilla and varnish, but above all menthol dominates, seconded by (too much) pepper. Long finish on menthol and banana.

Very fruity, well-ripe fruits, a hint of menthol, a pastry side. Pineapple in the finish. I really like this side of my Jamaica (without that flambéed banana marker that I don't appreciate). The depth amplifies after 2-3 months of bottle aeration. Really a great quality-price ratio.
