Most tasters land in "good but young" territory, with one honest catch: the Málaga wine finish runs the show. On the nose it's overripe pineapple and banana, esters, grapes and roasted wood; the palate turns fruity and spicy before a long, dry, tannic finish. A few note the Monymusk pot-still character nearly disappears under the wine. At 69.8% the heat is mostly well integrated.

8.8:On the nose, esters and tropical fruits, overripe, with pineapple and banana bump into our nosetrils, wine notes with grapes, roasted wood with nuts, spicy with vanilla. On aeration, citrus fruits arise, vegetal molasses with an olive, dark with licorice, sour side of this rum with vinegar, yoghurt, then caramel, some anise. Alcohol is well integrated. 8,5:On the palate, the attack is fruity with overripe tropical fruits like pineapple, banana and citrus fruits, esters, earthy with peat, vegetal, herbaceous, wine notes are weaker as before, the wood is roasted with caramel, confectionery, pastry and spicy with cinnamon, vanilla, pepper and anise, slightly salty. Later a touch of bitterness crawls in and ripe red fruits. 8,6:The finish is long and dry, wine notes are stronger with dried and red fruits like raisins, prunes, tropical notes linger on.The wood is roasted, smoky, spicy with confectionery, tannic, a bit musty, peated..

The third in the group... an interesting and fine series... with this one the alcohol is not quite so well integrated and it lacks complexity.

29.10.2022 whisky & Rum Festival, nice event with a few friends and a few of our own bottles. Pretty good and young rum. Fruity with nice spices and light wood. Long and warm medium dry finish.

Strong influence from the Malaga cask. Very sweet, if you have no problem with wine finish, feel free to try. The actual MM character is hardly recognizable anymore. But too expensive as a daily easy sipper.

Nose: Málaga Wine Finish > Madeira > PX. On the palate for me the same order. I wouldn't have thought that almost re-racked MM could be such a good mix between LP and NY (but not so fruity).
