Most tasters land in the "very good Long Pond" camp, though a few call it a touch tame for the mark. Expect pineapple, mango and marzipan up front, buttery esters, young oak and a spicy, slightly bitter orange-peel finish. Continental aging keeps the funk gentler than tropical VRWs — one caller found it "more approachable," another wished for more punch. The 62.5% sits surprisingly well.

Continental long pond without a clear profile. Some rubber, some wood. Alcohol not optimally integrated. Unfortunately not improved in the 2nd attempt either. Too bad, had high hopes for this LP.

very relaxed VRW. this mark I just really like.not too much ester, some honeydew melon, pineapple and grape on the nose, as well as some vanilla, honey and marzipan.Taste then slightly salty, buttery sweet after brioche, slightly woody, plus buttery ester notes, some mocha, banana and roasted almonds, as well as leather and something herbaceous in the finish.nice thing and super Smooth!🤙im Mai Tai he has unfortunately not as convincing as hoped otherwise gäbs ne even higher rating

Very tasty Long Pond, which brings a nice creaminess. Since I’m more into the STC♡E mark, I quite like this VRW. Good value for money at the price back then. Good continental bottling.

RA / Nobilis / TRC: Very nice and mellow fruity notes with honey in all three. TRC is noticeably more woody/aged on the nose, though. RA is the most fruity and powerful on the palate. Nobilis is somewhat tamed with noticeably fewer fruits. Wood and some smoke come into play. TRC has a very nice combination of wood and fruits. The most elegant of the trio. Nice vintage/mark for enjoyable Jamaican sippers. 😊

Another very surprisibg release from RA. Intense, fresh and fruity with very good ABV integration. Has a very nice and warm touch to the palate and if you like Jamaican rums you gmhae to try this one.

Nose: mild on the fruit, but getting increasingly more prominent. Banana, pineapple and melon are there, later also peach and apple. Next there is a faint funky combined note of varnish and rubber. Some spice joins, mainly ginger and peppercorns. A bit of grass and olive (but not a la WP). Taste: rather Bourbon dominated, I'd say. The fruit and funk are there in the nose, but joined by creamy vanilla, and later an increased level of spice. The spice is reduced when adding some water. Finish: more medicinal and diry, yet not in a dominant way. Tar and petrol, rubber. Then there is the fruit, olive, varnish. Lovely glass, quite complex and a bit dirty.

I was looking forward to try this rum, to better compare how could perform a continental ageing vs tropical. Gotta say that this one appears more “gentle” in terms of funk, as the fruity notes (pineapple, mango) are not-so-rotten as in a NRJ Vale Royal or TECC, leaving more room to play for other flavors, like orange marmalade with a pinch of metallic and acetone. The palate is surprisingly different, I do get the same fruity notes and immediately after a spicy and funky kick, along with some wood. The rum leaves an odd (but not unpleasant) bitter note on the finish, that reminds me when you inadvertently chew an orange peel. All in all, I keep WORSHIPING the estery, bold, extremely astringent tropical long ponds, but this is indeed way more approachable ;)

Very intense Long Pond. Fine citrus notes, pineapple, marzipan both on the nose and on the palate. Beautifully balanced. Unfortunately, like the 20-year-old Long Pond from Rum Artesanal, the finish is somewhat bitter. The alcohol could be a little better integrated. But again, only nuances that bother me a little and are whining at a high level. For me, the 20-year-old is slightly ahead.

8,4:On the nose, esters, fruity marmelade with grapefruit, pineapple, apple, melon, roasted wood, spicy, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, roastedness grows with marzipan, caramel and roasted nuts, vanilla is out, as mango and yellow fruits. 8,5:On the palate, the attack is medicinal with esters, fruity with tropical fruits like pineapple, citrus and yellow fruits, on oxidation dried fruits come out, as the wood is roasted with butterscotch, spicy, salty, buttery, bourbon barrel impact is strong, the molasses is flowery and herbaceous, mineral. 8,4:The finish is long, dry&tannic, medicinal with esters, funky, slightly mineral with herbaceous, flowery molasses, roasted wood notes are stronger with leather, smokiness, roasted nuts, oak is obvious, as tropical fruits..

Nice and powerful VRW💪🏻 Nose: Intense and expressive. Lots of ripe fruits and esters, with clear marzipan notes — very typical Long Pond 😃 Mouth: The fruity and estery notes from the nose carry through beautifully. Added layers of smoke, salt, and leather. The alcohol is very present, delivering a bold, spicy punch on the tongue. Finish: Long and delicious. Classic marzipan up front, followed by smoke, pineapple, esters, oak, mocha, and dark chocolate.

The alcohol is a bit sharp on the nose, and it feels quite closed. Light esters, pineapple, vanilla, and a bit sour. On the palate, slightly buttery, vanilla wood, pineapple, and glue. Oily texture. The continental LPs don’t appeal to me as much right now; the tropical LPs just deliver more.

Not least due to the higher ABV, also somewhat more challenging and exciting than the Nobilis LP 2000. Grapefruit, apple and fresh herbs, nutmeg and caramel on the nose. The palate is very spicy, with an initial burnt sugar finish, which is replaced by a (pleasant) bitter note.

A brilliant LP - intense, fresh, and fruity. Pleasant esters meet tropical and citrus fruits. Alongside that, spices, a bit of marzipan, and wood. The finish has slight bitter notes, which are balanced out by the marzipan.

A generous nose, cedarwood, pineapple and ripe banana, a spicy side with chili and a sweet side with bitter orange marmalade. The palate is generous, balanced and the alcohol and wood are well integrated. You find the same aromas as on the nose with added salty, buttery and vanilla notes. The finish is beautiful, long with the bitterness of the wood standing out more. A very good rum, but paradoxically it seems a bit boring.

One of my first Long Ponds - happy not to have had just one bottle! Very good and balanced VRW. Citrus fruits, buttery, noticeable ester notes, young wood, light, very subtle herbal notes - great! It continues like this on the palate, very balanced, funky but little fruit, astringency, esters, a little earthy, not too bitter. More herbs on the finish, a little darker and a little more bitterness! Really great and we don't need to talk about the original PLV!

Reserved at the beginning, quite a sweet aroma. Citrus fruits, buttery, noticeable ester notes, young wood, light, very subtle herbal notes. The palate continues in the same way, very balanced, funky but little fruit, astringency, esters, a bit earthy, not too bitter. The finish has more herbs, a bit darker and a bit more bitterness. What stands out is the sweet/sour play on the palate.

Rather closed nose. Esters and pineapple. Slight woodiness. Much more expressive on the palate. Very fruity (very ripe multi-fruit style). Esters. Pepper. And a very salty note. A slightly buttery rib. Lots of sugar. Very fruity and spicy finish, with a slight bitterness and very present sugar. Very nice!

Tout simplement WOUHAAAAAOUUUUU 😍😍😍 C’est magnifique un jus pareil. Beaucoup de fruits, des esters mais pas trop, un équilibre fou, ou l’on ne sent absolument pas les 62 degrés !! Ça glisse tout seul avec une harmonie de saveur et d’explosions en bouche 🤩🤩🤩

As a Long Pond fan this is something to have on your shelf. It's something different then your regular Long Pond and is quite intens in taste, almost savoury. If you pour the glass you immediately smell a nice sweetness.

08/02/25: Tasted alongside 6 other Long Ponds. Compared to the other RA 2000 release (RX15399), I found this one more relaxed and a little less fruity. Still a very good pick though, with good ABV integration. Can't go wrong with either of the RA 2000 releases.
