Nicknamed "Stilton 2007"- takes some time to breathe, but then offers a fascinating combination of overripe fruit, wood, spices and...blue cheese. Sounds strange, tastes (to me) all the better for it. Completely own profile, which will certainly divide the tastes, but for me the basis for one of the - thanks to its uniqueness - best younger Clarendons up to here.

Gave it a second chance, this time with 2 hours breathing time: Nose: Kiwi, mint, banana, as well as some compost and cheese in the background.. Taste: slightly salty, sweet/sour/umami like kiwi, mint, banana, cinnamon, the cheese comes through more or less at times, brutally intense, less barrel influence than expected and extremely complex. You definitely have to get into it and not try too many other things beforehand! The cheese and compost note bothers me a bit but the sour kiwi note is extremely unique and exciting! :)

I actually tasted blue cheese on the nose and finish 🤔 But damn good! The 68% can also take a bit of water. Edit: RumX Advent 12.12.22 Today's motto: if it tastes like cheese, the rum is from Switzerland 😜 Wonderfully intense, rubber, red fruits, kiwi, wood, salty, fermented banana, sour and well, (blue cheese). On the finish still leather and raspberry jam. Guess: Clarendon 2007 68% from CG 🎯🥳

Intense Clarendon with unusually distinctive aromatics. On the nose fermented fruit, vanilla and strong wood, interspersed with a very distinct blue cheese note, which immediately catches the eye and strongly shapes the profile. On the palate spicy and dry with banana, citrus, bitter oak and a slightly medicinal edge. The high alcohol comes on powerfully but stays within limits. Overall a characterful, special 2007 Clarendon, whose quirky cheese note clearly takes center stage.

Incredibly heavy, complex piece. On the nose I have plum compote, all sorts of things from the chemistry lab (wax, varnish, alkali, rubber), dried fruits, leather, fermented fruit. On the palate mocha, barrel, bicycle tube, burnt. That hits hard. I find the alcohol very well integrated... absolutely positively surprised, this is really good!

RumX No. 12 Today I struggled a lot… this cheese aroma really confused me! I had just had another Clarendon in the glass before… so I couldn't really believe it was a Clarendon! How wrong you can be 😏! Overall it's not really my thing

The rum starts quite reserved on the nose, a bit of bourbon, vanilla, and possibly kiwi but by no means intense. On the palate then very alcoholic. Further, I notice a rather typical Long Pond umami note. The finish is dry and slightly salty and fades quickly. Especially because of the not particularly well-integrated alcohol, I find it hard to warm up to the rum; even with tiny sips, the alcohol stings a lot. The closed nose doesn't make it more interesting for me either. Even a few drops of water only help to a limited extent. A good rum with a challenging approach.

A very surprising Jamaican rum, which mixes a delicate nose of rubber and menthol with tropical fruits, dried fruits, spices and pastry notes. The attack on the palate is more intense with 68%, but overall remains controlled and pleasant, with a slight phenolic side, a perception of saltiness and smokiness and aromas of rubber, spices and tropical fruits that make it a very balanced and more subtle rum than it appears. The finish is long, dry, spicy, a bit mineral, phenolic and fruity, with a sensation of burnt rubber still perceptible. A very beautiful Clarendon, with a complex, intense but delicate profile.

First RumX community meeting in Acht. A soft nose, you don't feel the 68% ABV. A bit cheesy but also ripe fruits and pastries. Soft entry on the palate as well, then the aromas rise and fall quite quickly, a pity. The salty cheese side is present with some smokiness. The finish is moderately long, balanced with ripe fruits that linger much longer than the other aromas. The wood and especially the alcohol are well integrated.

Monymusk to me is usually a rum that comes in pretty strong and this one is no exception. The nose is definitely Jamaica with rubber, varnish and lots of fruit. There is also some nice wood there and a bit of funk. The palate is also fruity with smoky wood and nuts, caramel and vanilla. There is a hint of leather there as well. The finish is long with smoky wood, spices and raisin. The leather is more present in the finish than on the palate.

So this is No. 12, the Swiss cheese 😁 I really wanted to try it after discovering the tasting notes. So thanks to Switzerland for having it in the calendar 😁 Let it breathe first. And yes, besides a portion of rubber (wtf) and expected tropical fruits, there really is a cheese note coming through here, which is definitely very exciting. Perfect for a Rum & Cheese tasting. Simply an unusual profile for a Clarendon. The rum world always reveals surprises 😃

RumX Advent calendar 2022: great Clarendon with heavy aromas. Very fruity from nose to finish; dried fruits in the background. Also some rubber on nose and palate. On the palate also salty and smoky. Alcohol very well integrated despite the strength!

Was one of the weaker Clarendons I’ve had so far, didn’t find the alcohol very well integrated. Otherwise there were overripe tropical fruits, some cask was noticeable. Also rubber and slightly mineral.

If someone had told me that while drinking a rum I could bite into a piece of Roquefort... I wouldn't have believed it! A superb nose, fruity (melon, mirabelle plums, banana) and rubber, light esters. On the palate, it's overpowering, tropical fruits and salt, it hits hard but doesn't leave you indifferent! I like it a lot even if it stands out in the flavors we know with this cheesy side. Very nice finish.

Very intense strong rum with exciting notes that I perceive a bit differently each time. On the palate, the rum is very full-bodied, the alcohol is noticeable but completely within limits for me. Shows a slight herbal note alongside fermented fruit and wood influence. I like it, even if it's not for every day.

Unfortunately, I can't find the much-mentioned cheese - at least not on the nose. Here, rubber, solvents, tropical fruits dominate, so a classic Jamaica. Only on the palate does a great taste of ripe blue cheese come through. Paired with fruits and gas station, it could make a perfect cheese platter up to the first. The finish is cozy warm, which is not surprising given the proof, but quite pleasant.

First thought on the smell: very mild - fruity, slightly woody. The longer you expose it to air, the woodier/smokier/ester it becomes. Taste first sip - The ester whip with 67% comes with an aftertaste of a woody smoky note. On the second sip, the other aromas also come through, partly slightly caramelized then again slightly cheesy. Very complex
