Precious Liquors New Yarmouth Malt, Grain & Cane for Bar Lamp Ginza and Rum & Whisky Kyoto 1994
Sip this one neat, and give it air — several tasters say it opens up dramatically after time in the glass. Roasted coconut chips, overripe banana, papaya and pineapple meet dark chocolate, dried dates and a "creamy toffee nose," with sour esters and glue underneath. At 67.9% it's warm and full-bodied; a drop or two of water suits some. Long, spicy finish.

How does Precious Liquors New Yarmouth Malt, Grain & Cane for Bar Lamp Ginza and Rum & Whisky Kyoto 1994 taste?
Summarized by AI from community reviews.
Powerful, funky New Yarmouth with creamy toffee One of the loved 1994 New Yarmouths — powerful, funky, chocolate-and-coconut heavy with a huge finish. A few wish it were fruitier, and some find the alcohol a touch sharp.

This New Yarmouth from PL is significantly more present and stronger than the Lime House. The aromas are more intense and therefore it also appears more complex. In order to reach the top, it still lacks some fruit. Otherwise, another very good representative of the 94 NY

Tasted at German rum festival I really appreciate the rum. Very complex rum. I would dilate the rum a bit in order to balance the rum a bit more.

Clearly better at full proof than diluted! Dark roasted coconut chips meet overripe bananas and other fermented tropical fruits like papaya and pineapple, plus dark chocolate, dried medjoul dates, and sour esters with an almost endless finish. Also unusually funky for a '94, not everyone brings this ester power... Intense stuff!

After two very weak rums, I need something sensible again today. But then also the right one. NY, 26 yo, 68%. A sample from the 13th GRF: Nose: wonderfully complex, intense, with a dense aroma spectrum. Toasty-woody-spicy and tropical-fruity. Slightly smoky with leather, tobacco and a pleasant honey-caramel sweetness. Gooseberry, papaya, dried apricot and pineapple with a hint of coconut. The pleasant, present but restrained esters with glue and light marzipan go well with this. Fantastic nose. 9.0 Palate: powerful, full-bodied and intensely delicious. It is spicy-woody-roasty and at the same time nutty-chocolaty paired with tropical fruits. Initially astringent, salty and slightly bitter, but then immediately sweet and sour with pineapple and passion fruit, followed by fatty pecan and tonka bean. Behind that, leather and plenty of bourbon. If I had more than 2cl, the list would certainly be even longer. Great rum, but the %% is a great fit for me. 9,0

Round and very tasty rum. Excellent combination of accessibility and complexity. Present fruits, also esters tasty and dark chocolate. Alcohol very well integrated. A top representative of the vintage.

Excellent 1994 New Yarmouth. Power, creaminess and a great cream toffee note. Really fun!

#4795 24.07.2024 Sampling a bit at home while watching Band of Brothers. Nose Balanced, light roasted wood, faint floral, dried fruit, plum, light nutts, faint chocolate, faint coffee. Palate Oily, balanced, medium spicy, fruity, dried fruit, prunes, faint herbs, faint coffee, light chocolate, light wood. Finish Long and warm, light mint, light wood, light berries, light chocolate. The empty glass has light floral and caramel notes.

Beautifully sweet, creamy, like caramel. Great choice for rum lovers who want to move from sweet syrups to pure distillate. New Yarmouth 1994 rarely disappoints. This is a great choice you'll always gladly return to.

Today a tasting with a few bottlings of the 1994 New Yarmouth, which I had already rated before. And with this one, I have to revise my judgment a bit and raise the score. It is not very fruity, rather spicy and roasted, but I still like it very much.

94 NY with lots of power, funk, dark chocolate and fermented fruits. At first funk and ester in the mouth which then turn into dark berries. Very warming and for me personally the alcohol is not so well integrated and the finish a bit sharp. But a great bottling.
Review by Piotr Ignasiak
Couple of drops of water made it perfect, added few more later and it was too much. Nicely intense, it had the best nose of the three NY94 that i tried tonight. Overall I prefer the VM one, due to more pronounced raisin and cookie notes.
Review by Skyfly
Dream release! From nose to palate to finish, a super complex rum where tropical fruits, wood, chocolate, coconut, papaya, wood, and caramel form a perfect symbiosis. The alcohol is simply perfectly integrated!

Awesome shit, very similar to the RA, but 400 euros per 0.7l = no.

A typical 94 NY at an excellent level!
Review by Jakob

Solid NY94 release that ticks all the boxes. Rotten fruits, funkyness, power, wood. Just love this profile!
Review by DosenZorn
Good NY94. Classic 94 notes in the form of chocolate, coconut, red ripe berries are present. For a top rating, the alcohol on the palate should be better integrated. It's a little too sharp for me.

Salon Du Rhum 2024 Close to perfection! No words needed. Trying a sample and yet again such a great rum! One of the better rums I tried since a long time. Creamy toffee nose, tropical fruits in the mouth with lots of coconut, very long finish. Nice wood over the whole line. Alcohol nicely integrated. Recommend you try this before you die!

Salon du Rhum 2024 20/07/2025: retasted at 1st BYOB party with friends Still a great rum! The way this one developed on the nose is crazy. When you give it the time it needs in the glass, you will be rewarded. Expensive bottle, but might be worth it if you like this flavour profile.

Good one! As a 94er NY you have big competition, but I would say this bottling competes for one of the top spots. Intense and powerful, but also balanced between the typical aromas of this vintage, I really like this drop. Only the wood is a bit too dominant for me, but I can overlook that.

Yet another stunning 1994 NY bottling. Excellent stuff displaying many typical notes: coconut, caramel, honey, butterscotch, orange zest, and ginger are all prominent, and the finish is long and satisfying.

Quite a dark nose with untypical chocolate aromas. Besides that the typical notes you expect. On the palate this is a rather spice heavy 1994 with all what you want. Long finish and in the end all around nice intense ny
