8,4:On the nose, fresh, grassy, flowery and herbaceous molasses, sweet with honey, roasted wood notes like cream toffee, roasted nuts, chocolate, spicy with anise, nail polish, citrus and banana, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, sweet pastry, gingerbread, vanilla and ginger arise, the fruits become candied, some apple might join, rubber, metallic patina and more vegetal aspect of molasses. 8,1:On the palate, the attack is intense, sharp, alcoholic, quite spicy with ginger, red pepper, anise, then herbaceous, grassy, flowery molasses, sweet with honey balances the first agressive touch, with oxidation molasses more vegetal, hot with olive, chilli.Fruits with banana, citrus and roasted wood notes, smoky and spicy, like chocolate, roasted nuts, cocoa, cream toffee and brown sugar also help rounding and calming our tasting buds...some rubber and hints of licorice pop up with time. 8,2:The finish is long, dry&tannic, as roasted/toasted wood notes, smoky and spicy, try pairing sweet(honey), flowery and grassy molasses and weak fruits. For me personally a nice surprise, I had some concerns that it would taste more like whisky than rum. In my opinion the alcohol isn't quite so well integrated. The rest of the sample worked pretty well as a mixer though.

Rarely had a rum where the nose and finish convinced me and the palate was the least convincing. Banana Bonanza definitely fits, as this is the primary fruit note. Very vegetal on the nose, then alcoholic/peppery on the palate, and then becoming woodier.

This Worthy Park is quite distillate-driven due to the tannin-free, refill bourbon cask and the (in my opinion) continental maturation. This manifests itself besides the grassy-fresh smell with the main focus on bananas and herbs also in an intense attack with slight alcoholic peaks and a sharpness reminiscent of fresh ginger and red pepper. If you manage to chew through this successfully, you meet the typical banana notes again and the cask now brings pleasantly toasty and roasted accents into play. Not quite matured yet, but already a lot of fun!

Interesting bottling from the Scotch Malt Whisky Society, Worthy Park matured on the continent. Hardly any fruity ester notes, the Jamaica funk is missing somewhere. On the nose initially nondescript, on the palate there was first a peak of aromas that quickly flattened from intense mineral, grassy notes to green banana with a slightly herbal sharpness reminiscent of freshly grated radish. Nice, but not very good.
