La Favorite Coeur de Canne
Citrus, apricot and fresh sugarcane run through this 4-year La Favorite agricole, with light toasted oak and pepper behind them. What surprises most people is the softness — several tasters call it unexpectedly sweet and round for an agricole, "one of the smoothest" at this age. A couple find it young and a bit rough, but most enjoy the subtle, fruity nuance.

Aggregated from 66 community reviews.
Soft, fruity agricole for easy sipping Most find it a gentle, fruity entry into Martinique agricole — citrus, cane and light spice with a soft body. The catch: the finish is short and a few call it young or plain.

One of the smoothest agricoles I have ever tried at this ageing (4 years). The hallmark grassiness is like a gentle kiss closing off the flavor rather than being front and center. This is a pure sipping agricole through and through, it's smoothness and well-mannered flavor wave would be wasted in cocktails. At this price and ageing it's not just good, it's great. My first La Favorite and now I get what all the fuss is about.

15.10.2021 A nice evening with good friends at a local tasting. Notes Medium dark in colour. Nose Fresh, sweet, light wood, light tannins, sugarcane, Agricole, fruity, light citrus. Palate Fresh, round, light wood, sugarcane, light citrus, faint cherry, faint caramel, Agricole. Finish Medium long, light, wood, fruits, spices.

Shared bottle with friends. Soft agricole smell. Citrus. Chamomille tea. Yellow fruits. Subtle. Nougat. Taste: first sweet then dry. Apricot. Guave. Hay. Passion fruit. All very subtle but tasty. The art is in the nuance. Not a powerhouse but a fine rum nonetheless.

An astonishingly sweet and gourmet rum, so much so that one might think the addition of sugar would soften the agricultural profile. Sugar cane is followed by candied, dried and tropical fruits that are opulent and expressive. Then come spicy notes of vanilla and cinnamon, toasted wood and a hint of walnut. A fine fragrance for the moment. The attack on the palate remains just as pleasant, with fruity notes of lemon and prunes, flavors of cane and pastry confections, spicy woodiness and hints of toasted toast. The thick, syrupy texture on the palate accentuates the gourmet sensation. The finish is relatively short, on prunes and citrus, caramel, spicy wood on vanilla and sugarcane. Perhaps the only real flaw in this tasty bottling. Despite this, this edition of Coeur de Canne remains a choice reference at a reasonable price for anyone wishing to discover the sweet, sexy side of agricultural rums.

A fairly classic profile for young favorites. The woodiness is fairly controlled but also relatively linear.

Very good rhum agricole. Despite being 4 years old, it's still very fruity and floral, and you can really taste the sugar cane.

Review by Thefrenchagave
Review by Quentin Leseigneur
Review by Henry Davies
A young and fairly unrefined agricole for my taste. Elements of copper and unrefined sugar on the mouth. It’s a bit brash and the alcohol feels unintegrated. Good to taste but unless a big fan of the more vegetal agricole style may be a bit rough. Sugarcane and wood on the mouth, more green herbs and oak on the mouth with a savoury finish. Not my kind of rum
