Navy Island Jamaica Navy Strength
Ripe banana, dark chocolate and roasted, peppery esters — a Jamaican pot-still blend at 57% that tastes unmistakably of the island. Several tasters catch honey, vanilla and candied fruit alongside the funk, kept in moderation rather than over the top. The one recurring gripe: the alcohol isn't fully knitted in yet, so it reads a touch young with rough edges. A splash of water softens it nicely.

How does Navy Island Jamaica Navy Strength taste?

Funky Jamaican pot-still, banana and chocolate Most find it a proper, funky Jamaican with banana, chocolate and roasted notes at a fair strength. A few note the alcohol sticks out and it drinks a little young.

Nice surprise! Fruity, woody, coffee and seems to me a slight roastiness. Alcohol not integrated as well as it could be.

Molasses is what I smell. My wife, raisins. I am still working out the flavors. The 11 various pots might be a few too many, as I’m not quite there on the taste.

This Jamaican pot still rum at ABV 57% is a blend of distillates from Hampden, Worthy Park and Monymusk. It’s aged in former bourbon barrels. The color is deep amber with a little help from added color otherwise there’s no flavoring additives. The finish is rather long and it’s very dry in the very end. Overall a well balanced full bodied Jamaican rum without being extremely heavy with taste of esters.

So I must say that he has not really appealed to me pure, but in the CubaLibre I find him not so bad. But there are also better for it. This has so just managed the hurdle over the 7ner mark.

Pretty good rum considering the price tag. I like the smoky wood on the palate with some fruit and vanilla. The chocolate becomes very clear in the empty glass.

A really good Jamaican blend! I can definitely taste Worthy Park and Hampden.
Review by Rumpalumpa
Beautiful Jamaican. Unlike what one is used to, vanilla also stands out particularly clearly from the expected ester fruit basket. Although I prefer Jamaica in cocktails, I also think it's great neat!

Un rum bien typique de la Jamaïque, plaisant avec de la souplesse sans excès.

Hampden well behaved and supple. All right!

... Hampden, a legendary Jamaican distiller that produces rum as well as alcohol for perfume. In all the rums from this distillery you will taste wild esters, after which your whole organism will soak up the smell of golden tropical fruits - mango, papaya, pineapple, peach. One of the "must try before you die" rums

Surprisingly sweet with caramel and grape jelly on the nose. The taste is also unusually sweet and fruity, but also somewhat artificial and burnt. For me, definitely on a par with the CDI Jamaica navy strength but also completely different in terms of profile.

Beautiful complex representative. For me personally, a very well done product. Incredibly complex. Beautiful long taste

The scent is somewhat reminiscent of unaged Hampden Rum fire. Guessing that the spirit is quite young. The color is deceiving as it should contain dyes. Quite ok anyway!
