Another chapter in #RumBuildsFriendships: Found this exotic caroni bottle in a small fast food restaurant (famous for the pinsa and gluten free products). I enjoyed a glass of this caroni during a great talk with the owner of the restaurant and the story behind this bottle! Back to buiness: This is one of my all time favorite caronis due the perfect mix of rubber, tar, bicycle tube and fruits (mango, papaya). The alcohol and barrel is integrated well. The finish is long with all the typical notes.

Beaucoup de fruits au nez, un léger menthol et des herbes. Des notes persistantes mais légères d’atelier mécanique et du miel de thym, mais aussi de la fumée. La bouche s’ouvre avec douceur, puis les fruits et les autres arômes s’assemblent et montent en puissance. Une très belle évolution de bouche avec un côté givré assez marqué. La finale est très longue avec comme une poire William et d’autres fruits jaunes. Le verre vide offre encore plus d’arômes, sur les côtés fumés, fraîcheur et atelier mécanique : une merveille !

14.12.2018 A nice relaxing evening with good food and rums galore. Notes. Medium to dark in colour. Nose: round, balanced, cherry, tar, rubber, light licorice and leather. Palate: oily, balanced, wood, light smoke, chocolate, raisin, rubber. Finish: medium to long, velvety, wood, tar, rubber, chocolate. Extra note: extremely well balanced.

Epic Velier Caroni Tasting 2023: Offers the entire aromatic spectrum of high-class HTR caronis. In the flavor profile close to the 1992 full proof representative of the Hangar series, thanks to the reduced alcohol content somewhat more accessible.

Nose is at the edge of being too woody and, therefore, lacks a bit of elegance. Palate is more fruity and complex which leads to a better balance. Very nice Caroni overall 👌

Initially very similar to Full Proof on the nose. Opens up much faster, but is not as intense. After about half an hour, more and more herbs and menthol are added, which doesn't appeal to me quite as much, but the overall picture is still right for me. The big difference to the FP is very clear on the palate, much thinner, less sweet, more bitter, lots of herbs and menthol.... Too bad. Unfortunately, that doesn't quite appeal to me anymore and in my opinion it's a long way from the top class. FP and HP are clearly in a different league here!
