8,5:The nose entices you with notes of wood, clove, allspice, and honeyed dried fruit like prunes, baked honey with apple and pears, brown sugar, licorice, vanilla and raspberries. Some parfum and leather, rubber could also be detected. All well balanced, alcohol integrated. 8,5:On the palate it is buttery, fruity with tropical fruits and spicy-pepper, salt with toasted wood, vanilla, tobacco, molasses, later going towards red fruits such as cherry, blackcurrant and sweet chilli, coming a bit dry.Irish whisky finish is felt nicely, has some medicinal, industrial like rubber, tar notes and is well balanced and very complex. 8,3:Asian spices and other warm spices are present with a hint of oak, saltiness and smokiness at the finish..

Unspectacular

On The Rocks: On the nose it’s very subtle with a mild oak and spice. Taste reveals smooth spice and oak showing more complexity. There is a slight salty and leather taste with a delayed second hit of spice and mild chest burn into the finish. Finish is long with the spice returning and then fading with some mild chest warmth. There is a beautiful Irish whiskey undertones. Mixed Pepsi Zero: On the nose

The nose is not too smoky. It is rather fruity-spicy on a honeyed profile. We have nice tropical fruits, caramel, licorice and vanilla. On the finish, we find the characteristic peaty notes of whiskey as well as notes of tobacco. I find this reference nice and the finish whiskey is rather contained. It's clearly not the type of bottle I would have gone for, so it's cool that I got it as a gift.

I’m a fan of this rum. Its more interesting than the Royal Oak and all together a different profile which just works. I haven’t had many Irish whisky cask finished rums but it works really well here. The nose is all Parma violets and candied fruit, the mouth sweet and candy led but with more complexity and some light barrel notes alongside honeyed sweetness. The finish is moderate with some schnapps and warm spicy notes. The only thing that is lacking for me is the alcohol is not as integrated as it could be. An impressive rum and my favourite of the Asmiral Rodney range thus far

Beautifully spicy. The alcohol is perfectly integrated. This makes it easy to drink.

A good rum that smells of whiskey, the alcohol is balanced.
