Nine Leaves Encrypted IV
Whisky drinkers curious about Japanese rum are the natural audience here. Give it 15-20 minutes and members find sake and red wine notes alongside bourbon, honey, buttercream and nuts, with a creamy plum middle. Tannins arrive late and turn it dry and slightly bitter. Several tasters rate it above the Encrypted III — rounder, more elegant, if a touch less complex.

- Rounder than the III
- But: Late bitter tannins

How does Nine Leaves Encrypted IV taste?
Aggregated from 36 community reviews.
Bourbon-and-sake sipper, dry tannic finish Well-liked in the Encrypted series and often called the rounder, more elegant one over the III. Easy to drink, but a few find it short on complexity with a bitter, tannic tail.

This is one of the bottles I got today and I ordered it because I was curious. My wife is Japanese and this I have tried good spirits from Japan. This rum, despite its young age, was a big surprise. There is some sake and wine to it especially if rested for 15-20 minutes. Lightly fruity with barrel and nuts. There is a light hint of marzipan and chokolate on the palate.

In the nose initially restrained, overripe sweet banana, slightly acidic (sake)! On the palate sweet / sour plum, creamy, later slightly woody and bitter that continues dry and creamy in the finish! In contrast to the III considerably more elegant, riper and the better choice.

for me the winner today. perhaps a little less complex than the 3er but just a little rounder to my sensation. the bourbon note does him good. am overall positively surprised by Nine Leaves after I had found less access to the Clear.

Very typical of 9 leaves for me : easy to drink but bit of after taste / after nose around egg whites that I don’t like so much - yet well rounded and pleasant. Lacking a bit in complexity

I still like the nose a little better than the Encrypted III, the IV comes with honey sweetness, pastry and buttercream, the III on the other hand is a little nuttier, more with a sour (red wine) impact.

VIP Tasting at the 10th GRFJust briefly...Nose: fruity, clearly bourbon and sherry, red winePalate: very sweet and fruity at first, slightly acid. Quite complex. Sherry unfortunately overpowers

Encrypted II mixed with Encrypted IV secrets in the blend. Great further development of the Encrypted Series.
