Members are almost unanimously fond of this one — the main quibble is that a couple feel the reduction to 42.8% costs it a little punch. What's in the glass: roasted, spicy wood up front with coffee, cocoa and dried apricot, then tropical fruit and caramel underneath. One taster calls the texture creamy and "a bit fat," and the finish runs long on wood, leather and coffee. Light for an aged agricole, but well-balanced.

A Saint James that stands out for its smoothness and complexity. The nose oscillates gently between vegetal freshness, red and tropical fruit notes, wood, vanilla, caramel, cocoa and coffee. On the palate, similar flavors blend with finesse. The rum's texture is exquisite: creamy, unctuous, a little fatty and full of aromas, including spices, wood, coffee and chocolate. The finish is long, with notes of leather, roast, wood and coffee, followed by caramel and fruit. A real treat for the palate, with excellent value for money.

I love the rums from Saint James because they deliver to their name. I have the 1997, 1998 and 1999 single cask and they're all really good. This one is wonderfully fruity with spices and wood. Ib the back i find caramel and tobacco. The finish is wonderful and long and the caramel is strong without being too dominant. After a couple of hours the nose coming from this glass is wonderful.

Really light, as expected due to the abv, despite this it is a great Saint James. Oak and coffe the main traits on the nose, in the mouth it is not as light as expected, with a nice body and a good length. The sip is mainly characterized by a pleasant woodiness that I appreciate a lot.

The reduction is a perfect success. All the hallmarks of an excellent Martinique rum are present. The balance between aromas is well mastered.

Blind tasting. Big spice. Quite smooth and fatty. The fruit reminded me of a Neisson but in the end, the SJ woodiness is definitely there. Very nice reduction that maintains the rum's power.
