Crosstasting 2007 Beenleigh with RX10370 Duchess RX16467 Silver Seal RX14046 Nobilis RX24349 Bottleshop At first, all are quite closed on the nose. They need time in the glass. The Duchess and Nobilis develop a nice fruity pear/peach note. The Bottleshop later joins with the same but more restrained note. The Silver Seal remains quite closed until the end. On the palate, the Duchess continues this play of aromas, paired with some wood and spice. Very good. The Silver Seal is clearly stronger and spicier here. At first, the fruit is also clearly recognizable here. The Nobilis is the fruitiest here. It strongly resembles the Duchess. What all three share, however, is the quite well integrated alcohol. The Bottleshop is fruity at first, but then the alcohol bites quite strongly. It only allows very small sips. Wood and spice are also very present. On the finish, the Duchess and Nobilis are relatively short. The Silver Seal is more pronounced and leans more to the woody spicy side. Same with the Bottleshop. For me, the Duchess/Nobilis are slightly ahead, closely followed by the Silver Seal. The Bottleshop unfortunately falls short due to poorly integrated alcohol.

Artur's Australian Advent calendar: Quite a monotonous rum with a bunch of vegetal aromas and sugarcane from nose to finish; alongside young wood and spices. On the palate, a bit of fruit. Alcohol is gentle.

Australia Artur’s Advent calendar day 14. A nose where cedar wood, vegetal freshness, and yellow fruits fight for first place. In the background, a slightly sharp alcohol and a vegetal side with a slight fresh cannabis note, like in the Trinidad 2002 (RX18188). The palate is rather weak in aromas, even though it is balanced. The vegetal freshness and fruits dominate. The finish is medium length with beautiful fruits right at the end.

Artus Australia Advent Calendar 2025. Beenleigh :-) Nice nose, very mineral and vegetal, herbs are also recognizable. On the palate, also light herbs, otherwise still quite woody, vanilla and cocoa are also noticeable.

Very closed nose at first. Wood and apples. Taste: more oak wood (American Oak/Pine wood). Bourbon. Pear.. a lot of pear. Some ripe peaches too. A nice sweetness. Dry and bitter. The cask is very dominant, but that's okay. This one needs time in the glass. I like the balance between sweetness, fruits and cask. Some pepper or ginger spiciness. Tasty. Probably one of the better Beenleighs I've had

2007 side-by-side with Duchess, SS, Nobilis and BottleShop. On the nose the BS is my favorite with more roundness and a creamy feel. The other three are quite similar with the SS a bit more on the harsh side. On the palate I do enjoy all four contenders pretty much, eventhough Bennleigh isn’t my favorite distillery tbh. Today the SS takes the crown closely followed by BS. Duchess comes with most fruits while the Nobilis shows the most influence (bitterness) from the cask.

What a lovely rum and the price tag is also very good compared to the quality. The nose is lightly woody with a bit of smoke and fruits and vanilla. There is also light herbs and medicinal notes The palate is wonderfully fruity with wood, vanilla and honey as well as a light cocoa note. The finish is medium to long and has wood, vanilla and fruits.

Intense pear brandy notes, wood influences, kitchen spices of clove, some pepper, light herbs and subtle minerality. An appealing flavor spectrum with present fruit aromas and a fitting counterpoint through the herbal-bitter spice and wood notes. Unfortunately, the palate shows quite biting alcohol, which makes the finish too fiery and causes slight deductions. Good.

Today four Beenleigh bottlings from 2007 were tested. All in all, four surprisingly good bottlings which I did not expect. My personal list would be No.1 Silver Seal, No.2 Bottleshop, No.3 The Duchess and as No.4 somewhat behind the Nobilis bottling.

Beenleigh - Tasting with four different bottlings, 3 from 2007, the Compagnie des Indes from 2013. All very good, excellently mineral and earthy with light notes of vanilla and creamy influences. This Duchess stands out especially through a strong profile of old, matured pear and lots of cask. It brings quite a punch, really packs a punch 😎

At the beginning mostly alcohol, chemical and fresh/grassy notes. Given the ABV (63,4%) it most definitely needs some air. Over time the sweet, fruity notes develop more and more. The alcohol still gives a lot of heat, but it’s way better compared to the first half hour. The finish is mostly herbal/woody and lasts for quite a while.

Nose rather alcoholic, this calms down with the opening but remains lively (requires a lot of opening), it is fresh but the integration of the alcohol is not really optimal. We are on white fruit, honey of flowers. It is good but I would not buy a bottle

Quie a strong and powerful rum. Loads of pear which I did not expect, since usually we get green apple from beenleighs. Some cocoa and some wood in palate and finish. This is a bit too young but still good.
