An Ecuadorian pot-still rum is a rarity, and this one leans into baked apple, cinnamon and winter spice more than tropical fruit. The nose can be promising, but tasters keep hitting a snag on the palate: burnt wood, a hot alcohol edge and a bitterness that lingers. One even caught a soapy note. I don't find this Romer & Sond so bad. On the nose, mostly spices, some caramel is also recognizable. On the palate, we then have a lot of wood and also winter spices like cinnamon are noticeable.

Somehow this year the Kirsch Whisky advent calendar is off. This one is also damn boring and has no facets. Just tastes sweet with a bit of caramel and that's it. Moreover, it was already in the calendar last time...

Maybe it's because of a somewhat blocked nose today, but I can almost only smell alcohol, a few winter spices. In the mouth then more, baked apple fits well. An unpleasant bitterness remains on the palate.

It has a quite pleasant nose with citrus fruits and sweet cookie dough, unfortunately it cannot maintain the level on the palate. Spiciness and burnt wood dominate here, it remains quite long, but not of the pleasant kind. Not my cup of tea.

I've given him several chances, but it's not going to be love anymore. Boring and too alcoholic. Too bad. Ecuador, pot still and molasses/sugar cane juice are an exciting thing for me for now.
