25.07.2025 Retasting and still not one of my favourites. ------------------- #5087 Saturday 24.01.2025 - 26.01.2025 A nice weekend in my sisters summerhouse with old friends and colleagues tasting a lot of rums. I can only recommend like we did, no phones allowed and then only music in the background 😊 Colour Medium dark. Nose Wood, light roasted, apricot, light dried fruit, light caramel, faint orange, sweet. Palate Light sweet, wood, light roasted, light caramel, apricot, cinnamon, faint salt, fruits. Finish Medium long, wood, fruits, raisin, faint chocolate, light caramel. Empty glass Light orange, light chocolate, wood, light rubber, light peach.

A journey from fruits over wood to spices. Intensely fruity on the nose and with a certain sweetness. On the palate tropical fruits come first as well, the sweetness is less distinct and then gives way to woody notes with a hint of caramel and also a trace of salt. Unfortunately it also seems a bit watery. The finish is unexpectedly medium-long and dry, with vanilla added to the wood notes and some dark chocolate.

A very fresh nose as often found on New Grove with a fairly good integration of the alcohol. Overall, I really like New Grove, but this one leaves me wanting more. Too simple and shy on the palate, with a big lack of indulgence. I much prefer the 10-year-old. A purchase I could have done without.

The nose immediately gives the impression of peach/nectarine and apricot with barely noticeable alcohol, which is probably due to the low 40% ABV. With some time, a bit of glue and a balanced sweetness join in. A very appealing nose! On the palate, the fruits from the nose are intensely perceivable, but unfortunately not much more. The sweetness from the nose is completely missing here. The finish is very dry and medium length. This rum already makes me look forward to the following New Grove rums, as I can well imagine it being very good with higher alcohol content and maturity. 76 points.

Nose is light with some fruit and caramel, mouth brings more body with wood and vanilla, before moving on to a finish with cappuccino and chocolate. It’s more of a mixing rum and falls flat on the sipping side

A very nice rum with a good price. It was very nice to sip. The tasting notes are alot more muted than on the 10 year old. All in all a very nice drinking rum.
