This 2012 Ten Cane pot-still from Trinidad throws people off blind (guesses ran from agricole to Guyana PM). Give it 15-20 minutes to open. Splits the room: lovely once it breathes, but the 56.3% can read hot and the finish runs short.

After the Plantation Belize this one was very different, and shows that sometimes you need a different Rum before to taste the difference. This one is full of herbs and an earthy note, that could be tobacco, but as I am a non smoker I do not know. Nice and interesting. The Alcohol is very well integrated, I had no burn here.

RumX calendar No. 5 A very restrained Ten Cane! Not the strongest of its kind... the classic aromas aren't so present, but all in all okay 👍🏻 Today the second time in the glass: It gets two more points because today it seems overall more pleasing and harmonious to me.

A rather raw character rum, playing hide and seek with the nostrils and timidly revealing its aromas of yellow fruits, apple and berries, its floral and menthol notes, its spices and slight pastry notes. On the palate, it is quite aggressive and biting, the alcohol is quite noticeable and the aromas more faded, dominated mainly by spicy notes and tobacco. The finish is warm, spicy and relatively short, with a hint of cocoa that rounds off the edges. Sometimes shy on the nose, sometimes aggressive on the palate, it's a frustrating rum whose imbalance does it a disservice despite some undeniable qualities.

This release bottled for Denmark arrived yesterday and I gave it a run for its money yesterday after work. The nose is lovely and only gets better after 15 - 20 minutes. Fruity and spices from nose to finish. The nose only has a little alcohol to it and the palate is only mildly dry. Lovely rum unfortunately very limited amount of bottles.

RumX Advent Calendar 5.12.22 Mega difficult story. I felt like I knew the profile. But I couldn’t figure it out. Although the chocolate first led me in the right direction. In the end, I guessed a Reimonenq from CG. Had a Ten Cane evening recently. The samples I had I almost didn’t like at all. But this one was much better. Exciting blind tasting 👍🏼

On the nose the typical 'rough' style, but more with yellow (peach, apricot) and less with red fruits, as I know from other, earlier vintages. On the palate toasted cask, candied, menthol. For 'moderate' 56.3% unfortunately quite a present alcohol.

N: first let set the alcohol lets only glue through. After a few minutes berries come through, and ne light sweetness accompanied by something spicy - cinnamon.On the palate then initially a nice fruit basket come afterwards but rather spicy notes. Clove dominates somewhat. Makes the whole something more floral. Had blindly guessed Agricole, is not far away in taste. Finish intensely complex and at the same time light. Great rum for in between

Needs to breathe for quite a while. Polish, wood, freshness through citrus, spice. Nice nose, but alcoholic. Then strong and alcoholic in the mouth. The finish doesn't taste very pleasant.

The 2012 Ten Cane releases differ significantly from those from 2008. The typical aroma of sour cherry and almonds is also there but not as intense. Also, the alcohol is not particularly well integrated. On the palate then lots of spice and quite alcoholic. In the aftertaste spicy, dry and slightly bitter. Good rum but I prefer the Ten Canes from 2008.

Tasted in the RumX Advent calendar. I immediately recognized sugarcane juice, nothing more 😂 but I also haven’t had a Ten Cane yet. The most striking for me was the fruit brandy note with yellow fruits.

RumX Advent Calendar 2022: After some time in the air, this rum develops very interestingly. On nose and palate yellow fruits and vegetal notes. Various spices and a strong wood/cask influence round it all off.
