A very nice ten cane, better than the one from CDI I'd say. Fruity from nose to finish with spices and a delfining roasted barrel without it being too much. A touch of rubber and solvents are also there.

A rum that gives an impression of unfinished business. The nose is somewhat timid, and despite some pleasant menthol and rubbery notes, the fruit and spice are rather subdued. The nose lacks depth and strength. The same applies to the palate. Apart from a few additional phenolic notes (alcohol and solvents in particular), the palate struggles to reveal itself and convince. The few spicy and empyreumatic touches don't raise the bar. Length on the palate is short-lived, sketchy and simplistic. A few hints of prunes, tannins and spicy notes lift the finish, without transcending the palate. A rum that needs some aeration, but remains disappointing overall.

...another one from the depths of the sample boxes. Thanks to the now quite numerous 2008 Ten Cane releases, a differentiated classification is possible. I would rank the V&M in the mid-field. The fruit bread is there in the approach, along with spices, vanilla, caramel. However, it lacks a bit of complexity and power compared to the Duchess 11 and 13 or the Rumclub.

This is the second rum I taste from this distillery. The first time a Ricci at Rumfest 2025 which left me a nice impression. This Valinch confirms my feeling. To summarize: a nice woody base evolving towards licorice, toasted reminding of mocha/dark chocolate. A beautiful brown sugar. A slight pepper in the middle of the mouth.

First tasting of a Ten Cane: beautiful discovery! This rum pleasantly surprised me. The pure cane juice character is not the most prominent, but it offers a nice roundness. Aromas of caramel and well-ripened fruits coat the palate, with a slight menthol touch in the finish that brings a lot of freshness and pleasure.

German Rum Festival 2025, Berlin. A nose of light esters and glue with overripe tropical fruits but also a nice fruity sweetness typical of Trinidad. Bitter and burnt caramel too. The palate starts with fruit alcohol, then other aromas come in, glue, very ripe tropical fruits, wood and spices. The finish becomes peppery with still overripe tropical fruits. Something unfinished to my taste in this rum that lacks a bit of balance.

A solid fruity rum from trinidad. Wood and alcohol is integrated very well. Incredibly beautiful nose of sour cherry -red wine jelly, cinnamon and many other wintry spices, some burnt rubber and wood and charcoal grilled banana.Taste with lots of tannins, roasted flavors, prune, strong coffee, dark chocolate and a few sour berries with ginger, lemon zest

Tasted at Village'26 with Emilie at the Catawiki stand. For me, once again a dram from a category I haven't had often in the glass. I don't find it bad, even interesting, could imagine it with a good cigar.

Nose rather woody and sweet. Rubber. Fruit. A roasted or toasted note. Sensation confirmed on the palate. I probably didn't give it enough time but it seemed to lack complexity.

Interesting red fruit side.. However, I don't find the alcohol very well integrated.. And it lacks complexity.. I haven't tasted many Trinidad rums but not my favorite.

Bourbon fans are in the right place here, the profile is very similar to a fruity, round and delicious bourbon. It has probably been re-casked, which is indicated not only by the strong bourbon influence but also by the noticeable but not unpleasant wood and its influence. The alcohol is perfectly integrated, correctly dosed and after around 60 minutes of aeration, the profile unfolds in a very appealing way. This rum is not overly complex, but very well nuanced and rather elegant and subtle. Those looking for strong ester bombs will find little to like about this profile, but anyone who appreciates noticeable bourbon notes a la Foursquares or expressive rums with a "Spanish" impression will certainly like this rum. For me, it's an excellent rum and clearly undervalued by many, certainly also due to the current fashion of not appreciating the Spanish style too much and finding it boring. 89 points for me, as a bourbon lover a wonderful experience.

RX21611 Beautiful Ten Cane. Chocolate, wood, roasted, red fruits, touch of herbals/mint. Everything I need from top Ten Cane. Everything is well rounded here and this is the best of the three compared here. RX8846 The nose is nice combination of roasted, chocolate and woody notes. I get touch of citrusy notes with red apple that bring bit of freshness to balance the dark notes. The taste is sweetier than the other two but not overwhelming. RX10418 The nose is bit flat for me. Overall seems sweetier due to notes of tropical fruits especially ripe banana that seems to me sort of misplaced here. The taste is spicier and bit technical and has alcoholic bite.

Read full review ›It’s a rum for meditation that should be tasted multiple times and in several sittings. Personally, I found it very balanced, well built and with an aromatic profile that tells the story of the raw material well. The partly continental aging definitely gave it an extra edge.
