Cookie dough, coconut and dark chocolate on the nose, with caramel and roasted coffee filling out the palate. This 26-year New Yarmouth 1994 is heavy and creamy, with the 56.9% surprisingly well-tucked-in — several tasters swore it was a Foursquare or Barbados rum before the reveal. A couple caught real bitterness and tannin on one sample; most found a rounded, long, gently woody sipper.

Extremely round, seductively sweet with lots of coconut and vanilla sugar, plus red berries, some spices...surprisingly fiery on the palate, but thanks to the reduced strength, this is much less noticeable in the aftertaste than with other representatives of the vintage. Exquisite and dangerously drinkable.

Extreme good delicious rum! In the nose it‘s like a rum from Barbados/Foursquare. Alcohol is integrated very well. Update: One of the NW 1994 I’ve tasted. It needs at least of 30 min to fully open up and a few drops of water helps too.

Today there's a 4-rum flight New Yarmouth 1994. One of my favorite profiles, Appleton 21yr goes SVW. #4 goes to Thompson Bros. A bit woodier, simpler, from memory very similar to Kill Devil. #3 the Valinch & Mallet. More balanced, a bit softer, less strong (as far as you can speak of that in the 60% range) and additionally a pleasant biscuit/baked goods note. #2, now it gets tight, the Excellence Rhum. Hammer nose with a wonderful animal note like Caroni 21 Extra Strong, a bit woodier in the mouth. Coconut and dried apricot. #1 goes to Swell de Spirits. Very strong, round and balanced. Dried apricot, which I like very much. In the mouth the hammer, warm, a bit less wood than the others, long, great finish.

Wow, the nose alone invites you to linger for hours. Intense, heavy with a pleasant coconut note and great complexity. I would have guessed Foursquare in the blind test. Less "punch" on the palate than its brothers. But very balanced and complex. Ideal "drinking strength".excellent New Yarmouth from 1994!

gigantically good old new Yarmouth! finally that cookie dough profile that the other 94s don't have. extremely drinkable and harmonious. Some dark chocolate chip cookies meet mango and a little mint, as well as overripe banana and orange peel...really great stuff! For me, this is probably the best '94 New Yarmouth and the only one to date that I would have really liked to have bought. I'm actually a fan of the reduced alcohol content here as it just seems more harmonious for me overall.

A superb New Yarmouth that shows a whole other side of the Jamaican rum world. The nose is very well structured between fruity and pastry notes, where toffee and cookie mingle with roasted notes of coffee and mocha, sweet spices and an elegant and refined woodiness. The attack on the palate is supple and very delicate, with many spicy and fruity notes, roasted notes with coffee and dark chocolate and a rare woody note for a Jamaican rum that is greedy and really gripping. The whole has a creamy texture, an exquisite taste and an incredible roundness. The finish is extremely long, with menthol and tannic notes that come to the forefront of the initial dark and fruity profile. An absolutely divine high class rum.

Dark, woody notes balanced on the nose with beautiful fruity notes. On the palate, there's a lot of bitterness and very little fruit, which was balanced on the nose. The finish is long, especially on the bitterness. The balance of the nose is there. A dark and interesting rum, in direct comparison with the best NY 1994s, it remains balanced.

An impressive New Yarmouth with creamy coconut, caramel and ripe tropical fruit. The chocolate notes and subtle roast give it depth, while the alcohol is perfectly integrated. A harmonious, complex rum that remains accessible despite its intensity.

Beautiful tropical long sweetness. Wonderful color and smell. However, I don't have anything to compare it to the 94 NY. Still a wonderful bottling 2 years later. At the same time complex, but incredibly drinkable. If the price were lower, this rum could even be recommended to beginners. We enjoyed it after a barbecue and were delighted. A completely relaxed and easy-going New Yarmouth. Perhaps even the most uncomplicated top rum I've ever had in a glass.

Very good New Yarmouth. Fruitier and more funky than the Rum Artesanal release but alcohol is less well integrated. We can especially notice it on the palate. Still a nice rum and strong release from Valinch & Mallet 👌

This is a lovely rum and the years have added a lot of woodiness to it, not in a bad but in a good way. Fruity and wonderful spices are there from opening the bottle to the finish. A complex rum with roasted barrel on the palate and finish. Luckily I have another bottle coming in :-)

Only from the smell I would have blindly sworn stone and stone that I have a Foursquare in the glass. Pleasant, not intrusive. On the palate, the rum is then very nice fruity, but on Jamaica I still would not have guessed. The fruits seem kind of dry and I don't sense much ester either. The rum has a wonderful gentleman's impression, a noble drop, nothing for in between. The finish is surprisingly somewhat short.Conclusion: Tastes good to me!

Wow, delicious! I had initially classified Blind as a very good Foursquare. Far from it... There's also a note that I recognize from my first rums, the sweet Abuelos or Origenes from Panama. But then it's Jamaica. I absolutely had to have a bottle of it. Thanks to Zabo for that. Addendum - 1994 New Yarmouth Cross Tasting - Part 1: It was the first 1994 NY I was allowed to taste and I was immediately impressed. But today it has to admit defeat to some other bottlings.

Didn’t convince me in our tasting. Starts with a nice fruity & balanced nose, but gets rather bitter & woody on the palate. Bitterness stays during the finish, not a profile I like. //update: another sample was way less bitter, but shiwed a well balanced NY94 with great sweetness, fruits, esters & wood. Not sure what was wrong the first time?

Great stuff!!! On the nose delicate esters, fruit (banana/coconut), vanilla, cookie dough and caramel notes.On the palate lightly burnt caramel, not too strong wood and spice notes... transitioning into a strong espresso/mocha flavor!This continues on the palate! Class!

Initially, light lacquer and glue notes on the nose, which give way to fruity, spicy notes over time. On the palate - in direct comparison to other 94 NYs - somewhat flat and restrained. The finish is unfortunately relatively short. Update: I liked it much better when I tasted it again in crosstasting. +0.5 points.

Then today as a prelude to the holiday, 3 small Jamaicans. Great New Yarmouth. On the nose, immediately lots of caramel and a bit of vanilla, coconut and toffee. On the palate also caramel and quite roasty thanks to coffee and mocha.

A top NY 94 with a lovely nose: lots of vanilla, tropical fruit and caramel in addition to coffee and woody/barrel notes. The mouth is pretty similar, add some chocolate and the result is a extremely round NY. Great stuff!

My first new Yarmouth, I was quite excited to try that one. The nose open on the feeling in smelling something damp, can't quite explain why. Going further, I get caramel as well as some aromatic herbs that remind me of pho soup. The whole thing is rather closed. The mouth is a whole other universe, wow! I have overcooked caramel, it's very dark, there are tropical fruits and very little ester in the back. It's very complex and I wish I had the whole bottle with me to go back to it several time later. It feels like there are only 43%, alcohol is very well integrated and there is little burn. The final is medium short, I only have caramel and tropical fruits. There is little to no bitterness. It's an excellent rum. I'm not used Jamaican rum aged that long but it works very well for me.

I like this one because of the dried fruits and the balance. Some chocolate notes as well, but not as heavy as with the next two NY94 that I'm trying tonight. Very nice sipper.

One of my favorite details in its best vintage. This filling fills the nose with the typical sweet aroma of cream, coconut, and fruit. The taste is balanced, creamy with fruity tones. The finish is long and very pleasant. I'm going to pour myself another glass.

Perfect, rich, balanced, everything fits together. In the nose besides caramel and vanilla also a bit of coconut, in the taste additionally chocolate and cocoa tones. 26 years of aging is noticeable, it's a top-notch rum definitely worth tasting.

Ok, first what you must know, this sample need breathing. Better, if you leave it for few days in half- empty bottle (closed, of course). Rum need air & maybe few drops of water. 'Cuz when you take new bottle & open it, rum absolutely closed, and very flat. But, after few days you can see the magic. Nose: Old wood, vintage furniture, rancio, varnish, delicate esters, dry apricots & figs. Some brown sugar vintage leather, overriped pineapple, dry mango. Full of spices: nutmeg, vanilla, ginger, licorice, winterly spices & hint of dark chocolate. Really deep. Palate: high sour. Overriped tropical fruits: pineapple, mango, bitter orange, marmalade, grapefruit peel. Dark chocolate, coffee, roasted notes, even burn wood, some bitterness. Quite delicate esters. Some sweetness & pieces. Yummy ! Aftertaste: loooong. Spices, coffee, overriped tropical fruits, herbals, bitter, esters, rubber. Conclusion: Wow, very interesting. Really deep & difficult rum. Many layers of taste & aromas. But need specifically conditions. Highly recommend !
