CDI T.D.L Trinidad 2000

People who chase the minty, menthol side of Trinidad TDL are the ones who'll get this. Expect dried mint, eucalyptus, a little glue and varnish, soft yellow fruits and a caramel sweetness that some find a touch too present. At 63.6% it needs real air — most tasters say it opens up only after 40 minutes to an hour.

The community says
  • Dried mint, menthol
  • Glue and yellow fruit
  • But: Needs long airing

Bild tasting #5: On the nose: column still in bourbon cask? Vanilia and some sweetness. Some fruits (peaches) and a light touch of mint. On the palate: Vanilia, some sweetness, artificial fruits from the outset, which evolve nicely with some time in the glas. Addendum: after an initial rather bad first impression, after c. 1h this evolved very much. Much more fruits on the palate and characteristic mint notes showing up. So significant update versus my first take. Cheers, Johannes for the set - was a blast to taste.

An initial nose of glue and varnished wood, then fruit, lots of fruit, cooked banana and unripe pineapple. A vegetal side with freshness (menthol?) and flowers. A beautiful explosion of fruit, even flowers. The oak is light, allowing the other aromas to express themselves. The finish is long, on fruit with flowers at the very end. A beautiful fruity and floral rum with a splendid finish.

#No.5 Nase ordentlich Kräuter Eukalyptus etwas Kleber. Sehr Harmonisch.

Schöner, sehr süßer karamelliger TDL. Erinnert mich an dir 1991er TDLs. Schöne seltene Abfüllung, danke an Johannes.

Somewhat of a undecisive TDL it does not play the part of the hardcore Stuff but then again it is 2000. It is kinda round but not interesting enough as such. I really would have liked a little bit of an edge. But maybe that is just me...

Angostura is famous for a bottle most people never drink neat. The bitters house founded in 1824 became Trinidad's only rum distillery, and its arm Trinidad Distillers makes a clean, column-distilled, Spanish-style rum unlike the heavy funk of Jamaica or Guyana. The same plant still guards the secret recipe for the world's most famous cocktail bitters.
