After a long wait in the glass and a half-full sample, a first nose of glue and varnished wood, then fruits, lots of fruits, cooked banana and unripe pineapple. A vegetal side with freshness (menthol) and flowers. A beautiful explosion of fruits on the palate with even flowers. The woodiness is light and lets the other aromas express themselves. The finish is long, on fruits with flowers at the very end. A very beautiful fruity and floral rum with a splendid finish.

Edit: after a long resting time, it develops positively. But it still won't be a top T.D.L. Today finally tackled the blind tasting sample from Johannes. Blind, I would have first guessed Belize. Maybe because we had burrito before, but freshly poured I didn't like it. Now let it breathe again. Gets a bit better, but the probably present mint is hard for me to find. For me not a killer T.D.L.

Interesting TDL release that moves at the intersection of Spanish style and the rather intense, fruity-minty releases of the post-2000s era. It works well overall, but the caramel sweetness on the palate is a bit too present for my taste. That doesn’t change the fact that this is a release to be classified as "very good."

Bild tasting #5: On the nose: column still in bourbon cask? Vanilia and some sweetness. Some fruits (peaches) and a light touch of mint. On the palate: Vanilia, some sweetness, artificial fruits from the outset, which evolve nicely with some time in the glas. Addendum: after an initial rather bad first impression, after c. 1h this evolved very much. Much more fruits on the palate and characteristic mint notes showing up. So significant update versus my first take. Cheers, Johannes for the set - was a blast to taste.

Nice, very sweet caramel TDL. Reminds me of the 1991 TDLs. Mint fanatics won’t like it. I’m undecided about what to think of the rum, but the quality is very high. Nice rare bottling, thanks to Johannes. Today in the second tasting I have a stale mint note, almost towards malt. Quite unique.

Many thanks Johannes for this blind tasting. #No.5 Nose proper herbs eucalyptus some glue. Needs 39 minutes then it opens a bit. On the palate much more happens... lots of eucalyptus and a nice sweetness. Some glue here too. On the palate also some dried peaches and anise. Very harmonious.

Johannes Bild Tasting. Many thanks for this opportunity! 😊 Typical TDL DNA of the newer era with mint and menthol, but rather in a more discreet form. Additionally glue with many citrus facets, both fresh and cooked down. I like it very much! 😊

23.02.2024 Enjoying some samples at home while relaxing. Colour Medium dark in colour. Nose Light wood, light roasted, mint, fruits, light citrus, pear, light medicinal, faint caramel. Palate Round, fresh, wood, light roasted, mint, fruits, light citrus, light earthy, faint smoke. Finish Medium to long, fresh, wood, light citrus, mint, faint caramel, faint tar.

I gave it a good hour of airing I find it quite successful, a beautiful menthol flavor with a hint of Caly, Teus, vanilla, caramel, a rather well-integrated alcohol, a tiny bit woody, and a very nice length Beautiful achievement from Compagnie des Indes

Johannes Blind-Tasting Set No. 5: After the first smell and taste impressions I would guess a TenCane.. I perceive this typical slight cherry note, paired with caramel and some wood. Alcohol is not so well integrated.

Oh this dried mint really got me. The alcohol is well integrated. I've had many TDLs but this one plays in its own league. Happy to still have an almost full bottle at home.

Blind Tasting Set from Johannes (thanks for that): Well, blind tastings always bring surprises.... Right after pouring, I gave it a 5.5. Not much on the nose, very alcoholic on the palate, somehow soapy. After a long time in the glass, the rum opened up a bit and got better, but still not good. Then revealed, and behold, a not badly rated TDL.

Somewhat of a undecisive TDL it does not play the part of the hardcore Stuff but then again it is 2000. It is kinda round but not interesting enough as such. I really would have liked a little bit of an edge. But maybe that is just me...
