People who like a Spanish-style rum but want it undiluted will find a lot to enjoy here. It's a naturally sweet Venezuela column-still with vanilla, cocoa and dark chocolate up front, then tobacco and a light smoke that comes from the cask-strength bottling. A few tasters needed time to warm to it; a drop of water opens it up. One member even mistook it blind for a Foursquare or Guyana column rum.

8,6:On the nose, charred/toasted wood notes like caramel, chocolate, roasted nuts with hazelnut, vanilla, oily, spicy, dried fruits like raisins and apricots, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, the rum is balanced, buttery, citrus fruits arise, some tobacco, metallic patina, leather, meaty tones. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is intense, but buttery with charred/roasted wood notes like caramel, dark chocolate, cocoa, roasted nuts, leather, slightly resinous, spicy with vanilla, salty, smoky, a bit meaty, barrel impact is strong, fruity with dried fruits like raisins and apricots, hints of currants, citrus fruits, berries and cherry hints.Molasses is earthy with tobacco, dark with black tea and licorice.When the rum is well rested, it becomes very balanced. 8,7:The finish is long, dry, velvety, buttery with toasted wood notes from palate, spicy, smoky, slightly burnt, thick molasses with licorice, earthy and fruity with dried fruits, banana, berries.

It's not really my cup of tea. I guess I'm still a bit sore from the €11 cheap rum last week. Despite the 61.7%, the sweetness is immediately recognizable. We have vanilla, cocoa and dark chocolate here. Not my cup of tea at the moment. Edit: Thanks to Lars for all the great samples, by the way ;-) Thank you.

The special thing about this rum that I like is the long and very slow fading finish. It just sticks to your palate for a very long time. Only lightly frimuity but with smoke, tobacco and vanille in a nice well balanced mix for your senses.

I have honestly needed a bit to make friends with this rum - but in the meantime we understand each other quite well.At first you have a nice "sweet" (so not the donpapasüß 😅) Spaniards in the mouth.Then unfold but on the palate so really nice tropical-floral aromas pulse some tobacco and with a few drops of water it opens even more.In the finish tasty but rather medium length and the alcohol can still nen tick better integrate.

🥃 The Nectar Of The Daily Drams – Venezuela 2005 – 61.7% A Hispanic rum where you wouldn't expect it. Barrel proof rums aren't common — too often they're hidden behind soleras. And honestly... what a shame. This Venezuela 2005 (15 years) at 61.7% is a very nice surprise. 👉 Nose & palate: sweetness, roundness, typical creaminess of rums, tropical fruits, spices. 👉 But the barrel proof brings a long, slightly smoky finish that changes everything. It's good. It's cool. Good job 👌
