Most tasters land somewhere between "very FS, no surprises" and "quietly one of the best Foursquare in years" — and both camps are right. Twenty-two years in oak tamed the edges: roasted coconut, dark chocolate, virgin oak and a telltale streak of glue in the finish. It drinks dry, and at 58.8% the alcohol sits well integrated for most. A couple of members wanted more depth.

#5340 23.05.2025 Enjoying some samples while watching Mission Impossible 1. Nose Fresh, balanced, light wood, fruity, light banana, light citrus, spice, faint ginger, faint leather, faint varnish. Palate Oily, fresh, round, fruits, banana, spice, light dry, wood, light citrus, faint cherry, faint caramel, faint varnish. Finish Medium to long, oily, light wood, light banana, light pineapple, spice, light ginger, faint chocolate. Empty glass Chocolate, vanilla, banana, light ginger, orange.

A solid rum with typical notes of vanilla and caramel. On the palate, it shows light spice and subtle fruit nuances. Overall quite drinkable, but without big surprises or special depth.

Compared to the other 1998 in the CoR series, the complexity is lacking here - the herbal notes are just as weakly represented as are the heavy vanilla and toffee sweetness. Solid in the best sense, slight plus points for the recognizable barrel influence.

14-02-2025- Rate 8.7 In my top 3 Foursquare rum in recent years. Tough contender to Absolutio and CDI Barbados 16 Can’t quite put a word on it, but it took us all by surprise. Tasted blind 04-04-2025 - Rate 8.8 14-04-2025 Rate 8.9 This is the 3rd time tasting this amazing Foursquare. Enjoys it more and more for every time I taste it 😉 Wood and spices in the nose with a hint of nail polish. Taste is really good. Wood, chocolate and spices and a hint of glue in the aftertaste. Not a surprising profile. Very very FS. But a good one. Very coconutty. Roasted coconut. Dryish. Glue. Butterscotch. Virgin oak. The age tamed the flavours a bit. Lovely.
