Nice white rum! Great to drink mixed or neat. The price under 30 euros makes it an excellent choice! Less aggressive than other clairins and probably the most pleasant along with Sajous.

Next, and for today the last Clairin. In any case, the nose is again very herbal, as well as slightly fruity, especially citrus fruits. The palate is also herbal, but also grassy and floral again.

The nose is typical Clairin. Lots of vinegar and fruits with smoke towards the end. Its very inviting. A little like a Mezcal. The palate is more vegetal than fruity. Lots of salty olives notes. Very similar to agave based spirit. Some sweet ginger hanging around in the mix. The finish keeps things in the fresh, green area but with some fruitcake and a lingering smoke. It's a very good introduction to Clairin. A little too thin compared to other Clairins I've had but it holds up.

The nose is pure Agricole, in taste then candied citrus fruits dipped in chamomile tea. Makes the whole thing seem a bit "dirty". The finish is quite medicinal.

On the nose, when opening the sample I immediately get a smoky smell that dissipates with airing. There is cane and fruity pear for the pleasant side and vegetal/floral to distinguish it. I also have a soft vegetable side like parsnip. I like the palate much less, dominated by vegetal-floral-vegetable. I get a little smoky return at the end of the palate. Given its price, you shouldn't be too demanding either!

Probably shouldn't have tried the entry-level Clairin last. Taste-wise it's okay with lots of planty aromas, sugarcane and light fruity notes. Although it's sharp-edged, it tastes flat.

Clairin united and unseasoned. Sounds exciting and it is. In the nose predominates sugar cane and fruit, on the palate then clearly more floral and also spicy with some medicine in the finish.mit Sicherheit ne interesting variant in cocktails.

A little Clairin rather easy to drink, and very pleasant in ti-punch. No need to add much sugar, it’s already naturally sweet. Sugarcane, vegetal. A little surprising creamy side and some slightly spicy notes.

A multifaceted and quite friendly blended clairin. The aromas open on the nose with floral and herbal notes that lean towards dry grass (hay) and well-fermented cane juice. The fruits (banana and citrus) are not far off and bring a bit of sweetness to this dry and characterful profile. On the palate, the aromatic palette reprises the same and expands on chamomile, apricot, chili, and esters. It's a smooth rum, with a creamy and pleasant texture in the mouth but lacking a bit of complexity overall. The alcohol is well integrated for the strength. The finish, of moderate length, is torn between the vegetal and floral influences of the sugar cane and the warmer, spicy, and medicinal sequences. Banana and lemon are felt at the end of the mouth. Maybe not the revelation of the year, but still a good clairin for cocktails.

You will very rarely taste this profile which sometimes resembles grand arôme, sometimes agricole. We have olive tapenade, cane and fermented fruits with smoky (+++) and buttery notes.

Oh yes, very nice. Super fresh and fruity, as if freshly squeezed in front of you. Continues in the mouth paired with a nice sweetness. Admittedly a little thin but a great flavor profile. Reminds me a little of Williams pears. The finish remains fresh, mild and fruity. Nice piece

The nose promises great things, typical clairin elements with grass and sugarcane alongside some pot still funk notes. Unfortunately for me it goes downhill from there, the mouth is thin and bit metallic, with a soft creamy grass towards the rear of the pallete. The finish picks up a bit with robust spice and some softer grapefruit flavours. It’s a bit brash and untamed, although maybe to be expected. Hard to argue at the price but it’s not one I will return to

My RumRatings review from 3 years ago: On the nose, there are many floral notes. Hay, lemongrass, and sugarcane. Plus some fruit. And the rum smells a bit rotten. So far, so good. On the palate, the rum falls off quite a bit for me. The rum is also very vegetal here with grass and sugarcane. But here it also somehow tastes a bit like spirit. Some fruit and a light candied sweetness don't help. It also feels a bit thin and watery. I'll be honest. I don't really like this rum, but I recognize the craftsmanship and quality behind it. Good for mixing in cocktails and the price is certainly fair.

Agricole smell with lot of cheese and cream. I tried also WPE and it smells the same. Ok, let´s move on. The taste is rough, very fresh, sweet but strangely unpleasant. The aftertaste is grassy with vanilla, like whole impression of this rum.

Tasted at the UK RumFest, and not a fully in depth tasting - overall impressions were that it’s a very smooth rum and the blending of the four Clairins averages out some of the quirkier smells and tastes which makes it more readily approachable. It was smooth and would be great in a daiquiri. The woman on the Velier & LMDW stand was great, really knowledgeable and clearly enthusiastic about their rums.

Really good quality for price, complex and fresh. Punch above its abv. You can taste the "Terroir", it is floral & a bit earthy, some fruits, really complex. Clairins are really unique and got this one for 23€ so really happy about the quality of the juice

The lower voltage makes the rum less interesting. The aroma is solid (sugar cane, plants, a bit of fruit), mixing the different ingredients, but the taste is just average and you won't find much interesting in it. I rather recommend the separate clairins.

OH MY! That one stinks! I wasn't ready for this one! On the nose I get rotten fruit and overripe banana and apple, some brined olives, fresh cut grass and hay. Similiar on the palate, yet more palatable than I anticipated based on the smell. Sorry, the stink. The finish is sweet, grassy and non-existant after 2 seconds at most. I love funk, really. But this one seems to be over the top without any taming. Sure it'll have its fans, but unfortunately it won't be me.

In my quest for whites, I bought this Clairin communal, a blend of the four communes (Baradères, Cavaillon, Pignon, Saint Michel). Bought at about €34, I see it at about €28 at Spirit Academy. Nose: floral, floral, citrus. Palate: smoky, floral, vegetal, fruity. Finish: floral, smoky. Empty glass: smoky, floral. Conclusion: very good quality-price and good mixer. Recommended.

Exciting rum, a good introduction to the topic of Clairin. Clearly different from well-known distillates from Martinique and Guadeloupe. Also offers exciting aromas in cocktails and long drinks. Tastes excellent with cola, for example, and doesn't get lost. Very good value for money.

I had this first in a daiquiri then again as a tasting pour. The blend gives it more complexity and depth than some of the other clarins I had. But it’s still unmistakably a clarin from Haiti, its identity is clear with funk, grass, aniseed, olive and ripe fruit.

Sample tasted in heatwave, warm rum. As soon as the sample was opened, the 10m2 office smelled of rum. Nose: it's a clairin. It's wild, a bit animal. Palate: I like it a lot. It's a big step down from a "le rocher" but it's already very good. Underwood, licorice, hay, fermentation and mushrooms, a rum for sake lovers. Finish: short. Not very interesting. You keep a bit of underwood and licorice but it's weak. So: much better than many rums but the rocher is much better for a bit more money. Only take it if it's the only clairin in the shop, and that's already not bad!

15/03/25: tasted @ Brussels Rhum Festival. I was pleasantly surprised by this Clairin blend. Good ABV for beginners. I'm starting to appreciate Clairins more and more. Might have to revisit my initial thoughts on the other ones (like Sajous).

Love it or hate it, there is no in between. Well the very first white rum I have tried without reading other tasting notes. Nose is unique, like Chinese cooking rice wine full of flavours: meat soup, dry oysters, dry vegetables, seaweed, fermented food rather you love it or hate it, touch of soya, wow makes me hungry already! Palate is very complex and smooth, just like having Cantonese cuisine in Lunar New Year 髮菜蠔豉, Umami, I could pair it with Japanese type cooked seafood, kind of balance between sweetness and saltiness, I am hungry!! Finish is a bit short, reminds me of wild game/ venison steak. I am very lucky to buy it in a second hand market, which I can’t find it anywhere in Hong Kong.

This is the only agricole that I have ever tasted that I like, and look forward to drinking more of. Every other agricole I have or tasted, I suffered through the experience until this one. I am looking forward to picking up some more Haitian single distillery bottles and try them to see if I like any of them best. For the record I love Jamaican rums the funker the better.
