The nose is slightly pungent with notes of unripe red and other tropical fruits, varnished wood, tobacco, leather and cocoa. The palate is consistent with the nose and re-presents all the same aromas with added spice, dates, light roasting and a bit of red wine (opened hours ago) on the finish. The texture is light and lively, although it is not deep, surprising in its delicacy and personality (objectively the rating is a bit lower). In the empty glass intense aged hints.

Really good Agricole in (slightly increased) drinking strength. Very round. Anyone who wants to enter the world of Agricoles directly with a top standard should try it.

For the price this comes at you get a bang for your buck. A great rum in this price range. Make sure you rest it because it will release a lot of extra flavours. The nose is very fresh and fruity with sugarcane, wood and caramel trailed by vanilla and chocolate. The palate is fresh, sweet and wonderfully fruity with smoky wood, caramel, grass and chocolate. The finish is medium to long and lightly dry with wood, fruits and vanilla.

Au départ, un nez qui a beaucoup de choses à nous dire. Des accents végétaux et terreux nous accueillent de manière agréable sur ce premier nez. Il amène sur des agrumes, qui se transforment peu à peu sur des fruits exotiques comme la papaye, du maracuja. Malgré son âge, des effluves de jus de canne fraîche apporte beaucoup de fraîcheur. Étrangement, j'ai senti des fraises des bois en fin de nez et du boisé. Le tout est nappé dans du caramel coulant, de la vanille. Vraiment très intéressant. En bouche, encore une explosion de saveurs et de complexité : encore des fruits exotiques compotés, quelques épices pimentées, des choses plus douces comme de la vanille, du caramel et aussi le végétal de feuilles de tabac. La finale est moyenne mais agréable, sur le boisé et les épices de cuisine.

Wow, I really like this one. Nice vanilla and caramel notes on the nose, continues on the palate, I also find this rum slightly spicy. Slightly sweet, but that's exactly how it should be. Alcohol well integrated. Delicious.

The thing is beautifully round. I'm happy to drink Agricole. Great balance. One notices the longer maturation compared to the VSOP. In the nose predominantly fruit with orange it becomes on the palate then more floral-spicy, even if fruit still remains present. The whole underlaid with some sweetness. Really pleasant.

This XO is also a credit to Depaz. While the nose may hint at VSOP with its spices and fruits, the palate on the other hand shows a profile much more turned towards floral, vegetal and grassy notes that add character. A smoky flavor adds to this rum with balanced and complex flavors. The finish is more marked than the VSOP, drier and fruitier. A very good agricultural XO.
