On the nose, it's unmistakably Jamaican, and very fruity. Sweet, dried fruits (apricot and mango). A little wood, vanilla and milk chocolate. The nose is very gourmand and accessible, but not very complex. On the palate, there's pep but the alcohol is perfectly integrated. It's greedy, with exotic fruits shaping the profile. Then there's some lovely wood, tobacco and spice. Very pleasant on the palate, a pleasure to savor. The finish is long, with a very fruity profile. The conclusion is simple: a beautiful Jam', perfectly balanced but above all very accessible.

Nice underdog in the Jamaica range. Zero funky but all the more fruity and palatable after banana bread, milk chocolate with hazelnuts, black pepper, wood, honey and cocoa. very tasty and still relatively affordable and readily available! 😃👏🏼

I was expecting much more! A good rum that does not take off, however. The "sweet/pastry" aromas are barely hinted at, coconut and vanilla prevail. You can feel the imprint of continuous distillation, which in my opinion does not always succeed in giving magical rums. Medium unimpressive finish. It does not sound like a Jamaican at all, but a Barbados.

High quality column still which is very enjoyable - yet the alcohol is clearly noticeable. Would not have guessed Clarendon but there is just a little extra touch of fruits alongside your classic (high quality) column still notes which adds an interesting twist.

I tasted this rum again years later. I'm now more familiar with Jamaican distilleries. My opinion of the pastry register hasn't changed, here no fruity funk but lots of greed, essentially woody (coconut, vanilla, spices, blond tobacco, nuts). Almost a foursquare profile 😅Super nice. It went out at 100€ a keel, a bargain at that price today.

A very good, but not outstanding MM, I miss the corners, edges and intensity. It has all the important markers (tropical fruit, vanilla, pastry, honey, some cocoa), but everything is very soft... and drinkable. There are much better MM

On the palate: Dried fruit, Coconut, Viennese pastries, Cocoa, Almond, Woody, Creamy, Delicious, Concentrated Finish: Cocoa, Tropical fruit, Peppery".

Edit edit: 😉 Opened another fresh bottle (thanks to SaibotZtar) deliciously adjusted upwards again. The price was already good for what it can do. Very tasty, thanks @Serge well chosen. Flavor profile super hit. And a good counter to yesterday's tasting. Edit: After I found the sample with a little bit left in it, I had to try it again. It was worth getting a bottle of it back then. But still had to adjust it down a bit.

Another great Velier in my mind. Once rested you get all the wonderful flavours from the glass even without lifting the glass to your nose. An intense very well balanced Clarendon. Fruity with light wood and it draws really nice curtains in the glass.

Very good sipper, lots of coconut, needs water. In my opinion a good alternative to Velier Antigua.

8,7:On the nose, the first thing we get is caramelized-like pastry, on a bit roasted touch, with some parfum on high tropical fruits estery rum. It becomes spicy and bourbon-like with some yellow fruits-apricot, orange peel, then coconut, burnt sugar and a bit vegetal. Aeration brings out more robust notes as toasted wood, roasted nuts and chocolate, fruits are now candied. Out of nowhere rubber arises... Giving the rum some nice rest, it becomes thicker with dark molasses, sweet cocoa, dried fruits and is a bit smoky. The rum is now very round and balanced. 8,6:On the palate, the attack is creamy with pastry and bourbon yellow fruit notes in. Becomes a bit dry and syrupy as yellow fruits become dried, with sweet spices, vanilla, honeyed and caramelized wood. Underneath are some musty/ashy notes. The rum is delicious and warm now, there are nuts, ginger, citrus and medicinal notes. When well rested, as on the nose, the dark side of the palate arises with thick molasses and is a bit roasted, going more perfumed and with some rose water, underpined with a hint of dried fruits. 8,3:The finish is long, woody, dry, quite fresh, a bit astringent, bitter with with tannins, yellow fruits. If we really wait, becomes warm with some baking spices, pastry notes and later tastier with milky cocoa and dried fruits underneath. Edit:31.12.25, an upgrade 0,1

I would never have come across Monymusk blind. Maybe not even to Jamaica. Really shallow vanilla notes, Belize/Foursquare-like. Super relaxed sipper, also suitable for beginners who want to try a high %.

Another tasting a few years after the first. I remembered a much more exuberant profile. Here, the nose is rather discreet. You can tell where the rum comes from, and you can make out a few esters, but the profile is restrained. On the palate, however, it's much better than I remember. Wood, caramel, esters, ripe fruit, coconut, vanilla. Very pleasant. Nice length on identical markers.

My last addition from the series, stood here for a long time, often tasted, but still no tasting notes...? Not at all...Nose: fruity-sweet-spicy attack. Right away with coconut and cream toffee, plus ripe peach and tangerine. The sweetness almost goes towards marshmallow. Behind that, cherry wood, a light smoky note and cocoa powder. Delicious and pleasant.Palate: intense and complex. Dry and slightly bitter at first, then salty before moving into spicy. Here then tart nutmeg with pecan, vanilla and then slightly towards umami. Out the back lemon zest with apple, but slightly metallic note and fresh green branches. A really good Mony taster.
