Corman Collins Arturo Makasare 30 años
Newcomers and anyone who wants an easy after-dinner sipper will find the most here. Thirty years of column-still Dominican aging gives soft wood, vanilla, caramel and milky-coffee sweetness, with a little dried fruit late on. One member calls it a "smoothe Geschichte" — round, no edges, easy to drink. The flip side: it's sweet and accessible but short on real complexity.

Not at the level of the 1st batch for a long time. But still a great Everyday Spanish Easy-Sipper with depth and sweet wood flavors. Excellent for newcomers and is also always great with my guests. For barrel strength warriors certainly not the right rum.

In my taste it's average so less than 60. Way too reduced watery and on top of that on roasted caramel, which I don't like.

Typical profile of the Makasare releases. Maybe a bit more balanced thanks to the higher maturity - but the differences are marginal. Again caramel, vanilla, chocolate, milk coffee, wood and spices. Very sweet, overall accessible, but without special complexity.

Running through a few samples while listening to some Psy Trance. Nose Round, wood, light roasted, light chocolate, light vanilla, caramel, light orange. Palate Oily, round, wood, light roasted, faint tannins, light nuts, light leather, vanilla, caramel, light honey, light anise, dried fruit. Finish Medium to long, wood, light roasted, faint coffee, light caramel, faint chocolate, dried fruit. Empty glass Vanilla, chocolate, light caramel, light coffee, light nuts, light licorice.

Compared to the 23 year old, more fruit on the finish. Very balanced. No real edges, but very delicate. Smoothe story, almost reminds me of a Flibuste.

The oakiness is the only thing that safes it from being completely forgettable. But the oak is nice and for something I don't care for, it has some qualities. It is rather sweet but not overly. I think this is okay!
