This is from the latest release and I was very surprised about the fresh fruity nose and palate. Very balanced and only lightly dry. Just leaving it to rest will release very nice flavours from the glass. Price to quality is very good.

2nd sample in the pre-cask project.Nose: again fruit esters, but actually a little less honey sweetness and less intense sweet fruit, more towards blackberry more hayPalate: more compact than the old Bakolet. Not quite as dry thereby more acidic and mineral and draws more bitter after. Again hay out the back but the fruit essence is missing.But clearly different, although the growing area is so close to.

Very pleasant mouthfeel! Changes over time to a really pleasant fruity direction. In TiPunch it is even better placed. Has something very olive-like and the lime fits in well.

"A slightly short finish, but it's a rum I enjoyed. Very thick, very sweet, a framework of Olivie and fruit, a good pepper to lift the palate... Be careful to let it breathe! To sum up, my tasting notes: Nose: Sugarcane, Fermented, Tropical fruit, Olive On the palate: Sugarcane, Peppery, Marmalade, Herbal, Earthy Finish: Green, Fruits, Nuts".

A good one, just missing very good by a bit, because a little too sweet agricole. Tasting-wise it is very varied and vegetal. The smell is pleasant and not too sharp. The alcohol content is also not too dominant.

Compared this to the Old Bacolet. Nose is a bit more shy but the taste makes up for it. A pleasant mouthcoating dryness. More flavourfull. Old school IPA bitterness. Nice. Few point better than its sibling. I did like the "copper" in the other one though.

Impressive agricole. Packs a lot of different tastes. Long aftertaste. Apple, pear, sugar but in a very difficult combo. Not for beginners. I like it but I have better agricole. But still very nice and worthy agricole.

Rarely have I enjoyed a rum that so clearly offers three stages with distinctly different characteristics. First, on the nose, the rum reminds me of unaged Rhum Agricole or Cachaca with sweet notes of banana and grass. Since that's basically its base, it's not surprising, but still, the smell provides a good introduction to what is yet to come. On the tongue, the impression from the nose continues, but the cask notes really come through here. Some vanilla and wood are clearly recognizable and give the light notes I already perceived on the nose more body and depth. In the relatively long finish, the biggest surprise for me comes, because here the Renegade reminds me more of a good fruit brandy made from apples or pears than rum. That was really unexpected but a great conclusion to the experience this sample offered. I haven't felt so entertained by a rum in a long time, which still wasn't "strenuous" to taste. Whether casually or with much concentration - this rum is an absolute knockout in my eyes :-)

What can I say. Very special, like everything from Renegade. Fortunately not smoky this time. Lots of sugar cane and citrus. Some tropical fruit. Dry, maybe some lime. Grassy and a bit medicinal. A great but special rum. Perfect for a TiPunch.

Not as many esters as the Old Bacolet. Especially on the nose. Nice typical agricolet aromas with citrus fruits and a little pepper on the palate.
