Fifteen years in oak, yet the wood barely shows — that's the surprise here. What you get instead is coconut, caramel and juicy vanilla with a light Panama sweetness. One taster caught "coconut lip balm" on the nose. The entry runs sharper and peppier than the soft nose promises, then chocolate and oak settle in by the third sip.

Aquavitae Mülheim October 2025. Then there's a 15-year-old Panama. It's also slightly sweet, but still within reason. Chocolate, wood and oak are recognizable, but also a hint of coconut. There really are lousier rums.

All the barrel notes you’d expect with a 15 year rum, but not over oaked by any means. Juicy vanilla, caramel and spice. Quite nice!

[German Rum Festival 2026] Der Panamá-Pacific 15 ist ein wunderbar ausgewogener und eleganter Panama-Rum. Birne, Rosinen und dunkle Beeren verbinden sich mit braunem Zucker, Crème brûlée und sattem Butterscotch. Ingwer, schwarzer Pfeffer und reife Eiche sorgen für angenehme Würze. Besonders gefällt mir die Balance: weich und cremig, aber nie langweilig süß. Ein entspannter Sipper mit viel Fasscharakter und einem herrlich langen Finale.

Especially after some time in the glass, I like the smell very much. Unfortunately, the taste can not quite keep what the nose promises. At the onset quite sharp and peppery, with a moderate sweetness. Not unpleasant, but I would have expected it to be softer. Fun but basic Panamanian. The initial smell promised more but continued sipping didn't follow through. Better for price range than something like Selvarey or Frigate 21 and similar if you like this vibe. Coconut and caramel, as expected. Coconut lip balm. Finish isn't super sweet, feels natural. Super pale golden pour. Had as part of a flight at Casta's.
