Rum Friendly Club Advent Calendar, day 24. An interesting and attractive nose, complex and deep even if the heavy and dark side largely dominates. Beautiful ripe fruits and spices too. The dirty, mechanic workshop side is well present even if I didn’t notice it at first. The mouth maybe reveals a Caroni, both soft and dirty, fruity and woody, round and acidic, bitter and smoky. In short, the complexity I expect from a Caroni. But without quite giving as much pleasure as some other rums from this mythical distillery. As if I was left wanting, as if the depth was missing here. A long and complex finish that reconciles me with this beautiful rum.

Despite the age this rum has very little wood to it, not a bad thing perse because all the dirty Caroni notes are there. The nose is fruity with spices and all the lovely Caroni flavours; rubber and tar. In the back i also get medicinal notes and caramel. The palate takes off where the nose left off. Spicy with fruit, spices and then rubber and tar. After resting there is even more flavours, chocolate, light earthy and medicinal notes. The finish is long with tropical fruits, spices, tobacco and light menthol notes. A lovely Caroni with a twist.

Very round and balanced Caroni with a very classic profile. Caramelized banana, milk chocolate, cinnamon, dirty smoky notes, burnt rubber, some menthol and vanilla. Very well integrated alcohol! Surprisingly delicious!

Nice mix of technical notes on the nose, mainly rubber and hospital, combined with a light scent of vanilla, pepper, cinnamon, and fruit. On the palate, you mainly taste spices, pepper, and fruit, followed by a very well-done technical peppery finish.

A great Caroni, spicy, nutty, roasted aromas, slightly sweet on the finish, I really like it. The price-performance ratio is also top, with a good network you can get it for under 300, which is perfectly fine for the quality, at least for me.
