In the 20th RX- Calendar sample today a Neisson (correctly typed). Aromas of grass and plants, mint, young wood. Overall a bit more subtle than the previous Agricole in the calendar. On the palate also rather mild, Young wood, Honey, Vegetable. Alcohol well integrated.

#5003 27.12.2024 Enjoying a few samples at home while watching Harry Potter Baking Competition. Nose Faint wood, floral, spice, light plum, sugarcane, Agricole, light coconut, light anise, sweet. Palate Balanced, sweet, round, sugarcane, light floral, spice, light honey, light grass, coconut, fruits. Finish Medium long, balanced, sweet, light floral, light citrus, light honey, sugarcane. The empty glass has light pear, clove and light medicinal notes.

For me, not really typical Agricole! I miss something the vegetal notes! Overall, however, a good rum and for its young age already quite woody

Day 20 RumX Advent Calendar: Nose: sweet, honey, toffee, raisin, sherry, slightly grassy fresh. Palate: mild, approx. 45-50%, grassy. More accessible than complex, but delicious.

Nose: the alcohol is strong in you, young pada-rum (poor quote, here!). Then, I’m starting to get some spices (vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, maybe ginger), along with a subtle nutty flavor (hazelnut and/or chestnut). It slowly evolves into what I sense as sweet citrus, maybe candied orange peel. The herbal/fresh note becomes more present. Palate: the very same candied orange peel is what I get right off the bat, followed by light wood. Then it develops into something more fresh and grassy. On the fruity side, I still get (with the help of water) raisins.

Day 20 in the Advent calendar and today again something fresh An Agricole with a nice floral profile. Now that I know what it is I also taste the bourbon barrel stronger out. Has gained considerable influence after only one year. Really pleasant to drink, can be fun. Now I must necessarily times to unaged Neisson ran. Can already taste the Ti Punch 😁

RumXmas #20, blind: Nose: honey, bourbon (vanilla), sugar cane, oak and a bit of spices (pepper/ginger) Mouth: tastes like an agricole for me, but no “heavy” agricole (bit of grappa but not that much compared to other agricoles) with fresh grassy notes, grapes, plums, dried fruits, light wood. Feels a bit thin but could be misleading. So not sure about the ABV. Would guess under 50% Finish: vegetal, fresh, grassy, young wood Because of the bourbon aspects in the nose, it reminds me a bit of the HSE American barrel that we had before in the advent calendar. But I can’t really say what country. Hell, maybe it’s even something fresh cane juice from Foursquare 🤷♂️ Feedback from this: what I identified as “bourbon” was probably new oak wood. Keep on tasting, learning and experiencing 😊

RumX Advent calendar, 20.12., blind. First impression: definitely Agricole, unfortunately, as almost always, diluted. Nose better than palate. Nose: very herbal, hay and green. Fruit slightly towards apple and a bit spicy with vanilla. Surely has something of old butter too. Palate: quite diluted, slightly woody with a fine licorice note. Grass and hay with chamomile and lovage. Herbal again at the back. Hay and lovage also in the fairly short finish. I won't become a fan of Agricole when it's this diluted.

On the nose it reminds me a bit of the HV Privateer 2017, lots of sawmill or young wood, spices and a distinct sweetness. Instead of the often present fresh, grassy notes in Agricole, it leans more towards hay or dried kitchen herbs. On the palate many spices and also a pronounced sweetness, which becomes spicy-peppery on the finish. Solid sipper.

RumX Advent Calendar 20.12.21: clear Agricole. I found the mouthfeel and the various flavors in the mouth very appealing. In combination with the nevertheless very present salt, both in the nose and in the mouth, I was mentally at Trois Rivieres. Overall good.

I think quite a few rums suffer from prejudices about their price-performance ratio and this one clearly is one of them. Very indulgent and very good. We're on cereals and you clearly feel the cooperage found on the other two profiles. Contrary to the general opinion, for me the best profile followed closely by the 107 and then the 105.

Fine Neisson but when you’ve tried the more full fledged expressions it’s impossible not to feel that you’re drinking a Potemkin village version of the full thing. It’s like entering a nice house where someone has stolen all the furniture.

Grass like freshly mowed lawn and hay in fresh bales. Unfortunately, the taste lacks some strength to convey the natural freshness. Almost feels watered down.

Continuing the cleanup with the weekend Bottle Kill: Neisson Profil 62 is a limited edition, bottled to celebrate the 65th anniversary of La Maison du Whisky. Made from pure cane juice, it was distilled in the iconic Savalle column of the Neisson distillery, then aged 12 months in specially prepared new American oak barrels in partnership with the cooperage. These barrels, with a unique numbered 62 heat profile, allowed the blend of four 225L barrels, dumped on July 8, 2021. Only 900 bottles were released at 49.2%. Tasting: Nose: expressive, marked by spices, hazelnut, and wood. Palate: less lively than the nose, but with perfect alcohol balance; the aromas perceived on the nose are found again, enhanced by the presence of the new US oak barrel. Finish: moderately long, spicy, with a hint of cane. Without shaking up the range, this Profil 62 pleased me, even if I find it woodier than its predecessors.

Finish: medium on fruit and slightly woody Conclusion: it's good but a bit less good than the balanced profile of Neisson for equivalent prices. Still a very good rum.
