Anyone chasing the classic 2001 TDL profile will find this in full force: heavy menthol and eucalyptus, camphor, tropical and candied fruit, then a tarry, rubbery Caroni-like edge underneath. The oak lands dry and tannic, with dark chocolate and tobacco carrying a very long finish. #4829 13.08.2024 Enjoying some samples. Nose Round, medium intense, light wood, light chocolate, citrus, faint coffee, light earthy. Palate Light oily, round, light wood, faint roasted, mint, light citrus, faint chocolate, faint coffee, faint rubber, light earthy. Finish Medium to long, light oily, wood, light roasted, light mint, berries, spice. The empty glass has light caramel and the mint has turned towards eucalyptus.

Quite powerful and very woody, blackcurrant very greedy, slight minty note that was much more present in the nose. Acidic point, nice complexity and length. It is very good, but certainly not at the level of hype however

9,1:On the nose, minty molasses, tons of fruits like citrus with orange, tropical with litchi, maracuja, passion fruit, some black currant, candied fruits, roasted wood notes like caramel, meaty, oily, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, dried fruits arise, some rubber, wax, molasses is earthy with tobacco, fresh with tea, chocolate joins. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is fresh with minty molasses, eucalyptus, flowery, dark with licorice, waxy, oily with roasted wood notes like chocolate, spicy vanilla, allspice, meaty, medicinal, industrial with rubber, tar, camphor, fruity with tropical fruits like passion fruit, dried and citrus fruits, fermented, dairy notes. 8,9:The finish is medium long, dry&tannic, balanced, with minty, floral molasses, eucalyptus and root, roasted wood notes like pastry, sweet, nuts, smoky, spicy with allspice, warm, meaty, fruity with dried, citrus, tropical fruits, grapes, industrial with rubber, tar.

A truly delicious and surprising Trinidad rum. The nose is typical of TDLs, with blackcurrant and menthol, but also tropical and candied fruits, spices, slightly empyreumatic flavors reminiscent of Caroni, tobacco and notes of camphor, making for a very rich and pleasant olfactory profile. On the palate, the attack is intense and highly aromatic, carried by those notes of hydrocarbons, rubber and tar so dear to Caroni, but also by the abundance of tropical fruits, sweet spices and the scent of eucalyptus and menthol that perfume the palate to give a complex, terribly effective and delicious blend. The alcohol is also very well integrated, with a long finish of smoky flavors, menthol, tropical fruit, licorice and delicate woodiness. A real taste delight.

A first deep and mysterious nose that quickly becomes discreet and comes back to the attack then on candied fruits and a minty cocoa. Straightforward mouthfeel with powerful depth 🔥this is a monster!!! It is both complex and concrete. The finish is long and makes me feel like I've eaten a nice piece of meat with a glass of red wine. I am a fan ❤❤

Puuuh, ja der ist ja echt mal krass, aber das war es erstmal fürs erste :) Erster Eindruck, echt heftigste Minze in Nase und Gaumen. Ansonsten noch ein wenig Tabak, ansonsten auch recht ölig und pfefferig. Top ;)

👃 Premier contact sur des agrumes confits (kumquat, orange sanguine) comme le gâteau à l'orange du paternel. Des fruits secs aussi, proche de ceux que l'on trouvent dans les Armagnacs Tenareze. c'est sucré, fruité et pâtissier. En le laissant se reposer, je trouve des notes légèrement acides et fraîches sur le maracuja et le litchi. La fraîcheur mentholée caractéristique des TDL du même millésime est bien présente, elle évolue vers les bonbons à la menthe blanche & les huiles essentielles au camphre. Petit à petit, l'aspect herbacé évolue vers des feuilles de tabac et l'odeur typique de cannabis 🤯 ! Le boisé ne manque pas à l'appel, avec son lot d'épices poivrées, ses douelles chauffées et son caramel crémeux bien cuit. J'y décèle un léger aspect "dirty" sur des huiles et graisses automobiles. un nez sec, complexe et structuré. Le sample provient d'une bouteille déjà bien entamée, l'oxydation lui va comme un gant. L'alcool est imperceptible malgré les 65 watts. - 92/100 😋 Whaou ! Kick de l'alcool qui se traduit par des épices poivrées à la pelle et de l'eucalyptus en veux-tu en voilà 🤩 J'adore ! Toutes les déclinaisons mentholées possibles, eucalyptus, menthe fraîche, camphre... Beaucoup de fruits tropicaux, d'agrumes et de fruits secs qui donnent une certaine amertume pas désagréable. Les saveurs fruitées sont complexes et variées. L'empyreumatique s'en donne à coeur joie ; une mélasse confiturée mélange de chocolat noir 90%, de sucre brûlé, de réglisse, de gousses de vanille trop cuite, le tout en tartine sur une tranche de bois carbonisé. - 90/100 ⛳ Longue, chaude, réconfortante, qui colle au palais. Âpreté herbacée, feuille de tabac, cigare, chocolat noir, cacao, thé noir, feuilles de menthe séchées... Finale assez tannique, on sent bien les 20 ans en fût. Presque un aspect viandé mixé à une compotée de caramel aux fruits tropicaux (mangue, papaye). - 88/100 Dans mon top 3 des représentants de ce millésime. Complexe, intense, évolutif, avec un spectre large d'arômes autant au niveau des odeurs que des saveurs.

On the nose, well, it's shy tdl, you think shit, not wow and you're not going to spend time sniffing, but the attack isn't the same, a little astringent, you sit down in an old leather armchair, notes of camphor, light menthol, wowowoow it doesn't finish, a deep throat settles in, tastes of stale meat/tobacco, licorice mingle with dark fruit, the woodiness is impeccable and fresh, there's menthol, yes of course, but it doesn't take over the mouth like on the other 2001s, violent, elegant, magnificent..
