Anyone chasing the classic 2001 TDL profile will find this in full force: heavy menthol and eucalyptus, camphor, tropical and candied fruit, then a tarry, rubbery Caroni-like edge underneath. The oak lands dry and tannic, with dark chocolate and tobacco carrying a very long finish. #4829 13.08.2024 Enjoying some samples. Nose Round, medium intense, light wood, light chocolate, citrus, faint coffee, light earthy. Palate Light oily, round, light wood, faint roasted, mint, light citrus, faint chocolate, faint coffee, faint rubber, light earthy. Finish Medium to long, light oily, wood, light roasted, light mint, berries, spice. The empty glass has light caramel and the mint has turned towards eucalyptus.

Quite powerful and very woody, blackcurrant very greedy, slight minty note that was much more present in the nose. Acidic point, nice complexity and length. It is very good, but certainly not at the level of hype however

9,1:On the nose, minty molasses, tons of fruits like citrus with orange, tropical with litchi, maracuja, passion fruit, some black currant, candied fruits, roasted wood notes like caramel, meaty, oily, bump into our nosetrils. On aeration, dried fruits arise, some rubber, wax, molasses is earthy with tobacco, fresh with tea, chocolate joins. 8,7:On the palate, the attack is fresh with minty molasses, eucalyptus, flowery, dark with licorice, waxy, oily with roasted wood notes like chocolate, spicy vanilla, allspice, meaty, medicinal, industrial with rubber, tar, camphor, fruity with tropical fruits like passion fruit, dried and citrus fruits, fermented, dairy notes. 8,9:The finish is medium long, dry&tannic, balanced, with minty, floral molasses, eucalyptus and root, roasted wood notes like pastry, sweet, nuts, smoky, spicy with allspice, warm, meaty, fruity with dried, citrus, tropical fruits, grapes, industrial with rubber, tar. A truly delicious and surprising Trinidad rum. The nose is typical of TDLs, with blackcurrant and menthol, but also tropical and candied fruits, spices, slightly empyreumatic flavors reminiscent of Caroni, tobacco and notes of camphor, making for a very rich and pleasant olfactory profile. On the palate, the attack is intense and highly aromatic, carried by those notes of hydrocarbons, rubber and tar so dear to Caroni, but also by the abundance of tropical fruits, sweet spices and the scent of eucalyptus and menthol that perfume the palate to give a complex, terribly effective and delicious blend. The alcohol is also very well integrated, with a long finish of smoky flavors, menthol, tropical fruit, licorice and delicate woodiness. A real taste delight.

A first deep and mysterious nose that quickly becomes discreet and comes back to the attack then on candied fruits and a minty cocoa. Straightforward mouthfeel with powerful depth 🔥this is a monster!!! It is both complex and concrete. The finish is long and makes me feel like I've eaten a nice piece of meat with a glass of red wine. I am a fan ❤❤

Phew, yeah this one is really intense, but that's it for now :) First impression, really strongest mint in nose and palate. Also a bit of tobacco, otherwise quite oily and peppery. Top ;)

The rum needs a lot of time to breathe at first... then it shows its strengths. Incredibly intense nose with menthol, esters, tropical fruits, young fresh wood, a bit of caramel and vanilla. On the palate, a great complex mouthfeel with esters, menthol, fresh wood, red fruits, tropical fruits... very tasty.

👃 First contact with candied citrus (kumquat, blood orange) like dad's orange cake. Also dried fruits, close to those found in Tenareze Armagnacs. It's sweet, fruity and pastry-like. Letting it rest, I find slightly acidic and fresh notes of passion fruit and lychee. The menthol freshness characteristic of TDL from the same vintage is well present, evolving towards white mint candies & camphor essential oils. Gradually, the herbal aspect evolves towards tobacco leaves and the typical smell of cannabis 🤯! The woodiness is not missing, with its share of peppery spices, heated staves and well-cooked creamy caramel. I detect a slight "dirty" aspect on oils and automotive greases. A dry, complex and structured nose. The sample comes from a bottle already well opened, oxidation suits it perfectly. The alcohol is imperceptible despite the 65 watts. - 92/100 😋 Wow! Alcohol kick translates into loads of peppery spices and eucalyptus galore 🤩 I love it! All possible menthol variations, eucalyptus, fresh mint, camphor... Lots of tropical fruits, citrus and dried fruits giving a certain pleasant bitterness. The fruity flavors are complex and varied. The empyreumatic is having a blast; a jammy molasses mix of 90% dark chocolate, burnt sugar, licorice, overcooked vanilla pods, all spread on a slice of charred wood. - 90/100 ⛳ Long, warm, comforting, clinging to the palate. Herbal bitterness, tobacco leaf, cigar, dark chocolate, cocoa, black tea, dried mint leaves... Quite tannic finish, you can really feel the 20 years in cask. Almost a meaty aspect mixed with a tropical fruit caramel compote (mango, papaya). - 88/100 In my top 3 representatives of this vintage. Complex, intense, evolving, with a wide spectrum of aromas both in smell and taste.

On the nose, well, it's shy tdl, you think shit, not wow and you're not going to spend time sniffing, but the attack isn't the same, a little astringent, you sit down in an old leather armchair, notes of camphor, light menthol, wowowoow it doesn't finish, a deep throat settles in, tastes of stale meat/tobacco, licorice mingle with dark fruit, the woodiness is impeccable and fresh, there's menthol, yes of course, but it doesn't take over the mouth like on the other 2001s, violent, elegant, magnificent..
