Exciting. After it comes across mostly fruity on the nose and confirms this impression for a short moment on the palate, it immediately shifts to dark, woody, and chocolatey notes. Unfortunately a bit sharp and alcoholic, somewhat surprising for 17 years. Otherwise very solid. With less present alcohol and a bit more mouth-filling aroma, this would be a top bottling; as it is, it ranks in a strong mid-field.

Tried as a 2cl sample. My first Barbancourt. Fruity nose of lime and sour green apple with glue and a hint of vanilla. Intense in taste, though unfortunately the alcohol also comes through a bit stronger. Spices like cinnamon, red pepper and vanilla clearly dominate over the fruit. Above-average rum, but does not stand out from the crowd. The finish could be a bit longer, still 66€/0.5l (15.03.22) is a fair price, but other TRC bottlings in a similar price range are more exciting.

Nice drop. The alcohol is cleanly integrated. In the smell lots of toffee with fruity tones of lime and green apple. The taste of roasted malt lingers long. Slight sweetness that does not come across as artificial.

A rum that first needs a lot of time. It smells very fruity with a bit of coconut. You only notice that on the palate at first, which is also slightly sharp. Then chocolate and mocha dominate. That lingers for a long time. I like it, although the alcohol could be better integrated.

It needs some time in the glass, esters and citrus fruits dominate on the nose! On the palate then some spice and somehow dark cinnamon chocolate come through! Maybe also mocha! The alcohol is well integrated.. on the finish slightly furry and bitter, after mocha and dark chocolate! A good rum, but not quite my thing.

I just like the profile from Haiti because it's something different. Beautiful fruitiness paired with vanilla and chocolatey tones. Great nose with plenty of fruit and vanilla. You can also find slight vegetal notes both on the nose (lovage).

Gold Smell: Sweet and very fruity Fruity ester aromas and alcoholic on the nose. Some solvent, pear, apple, light grapes. Also vanilla. Taste: Sweet, creamy and fruity with vanilla in the mouth, then alcoholic. Very fruity when swallowing. Also alcoholic, woody and spicy. Pear-apple compote with vanilla ice cream, mango and mirabelle. Finish: Medium length Pepper. Barrel. Dry, spicy and woody in the aftertaste. Very tasty 87 points
